These are a lovely watch. I keep saying that I want one, and two opportunities came up recently to buy one of these. The first was a 42mm on leather, the second was a 38mm on a bracelet. Ideally, I wanted a 42 on a bracelet (keeping Downer's comments in mind about the price of Zenith bracelets!). As a result of that and the asking prices, I didn't buy either of them. Maybe I'll regret that, but it keeps the search alive!

Apart from a non-genuine bezel insert and a Planet Ocean second hand it looks fine doesn't it? I like the PO second hand on the sword handed SMPs anyway, but I'd have stuck with a genuine blue bezel instead of the aftermarket one. Oh, hang on, I did...

I still have the original (complete) polished bezel, not just an insert.... Mine still has the original second hand too...

I am after the titanium chronometre ref 2231.80. in the kind of condition in the pic i posted. Miss out on one from jmryshi of ebay fame back in january and have kicked myself repeatedly since.

Difficult to land a full set, but i will one day, and thanks blowfish89, i have no intention of buying that ruined monstrosity.

Yes mine is quartz... I love the SMP, I currently own three of them (2 quartz, 1 auto). Over the years I've owned eight of them (2232.80 blue titanium auto, 2064.50 black quartz, 2265.80 blue quartz, 2541.80 blue quartz and 2524.20 white quartz all now sold). The other two I have are the 2064.50 (black sword hand quartz) and a 2254.50 (black sword hand auto). I'll probably sell the auto at some time. I already have more than enough automatic Omegas.

I wish I'd not sold the the white SMP though. I plan to replace it someday... So here's what I'm hoping to find. Again.

They are more in demand, so prices are a little higher, but are easier to read than the skeleton hand models and the lume is simply the best I've seen on any watch. Period. And the blue dial on the sword hand is just so much nicer than the skeleton hand blue...

I honestly just like the "look" of the bracelet - the 9-link one. And also the waves on the dial. The rest I don't care so much, my eyesight is pretty good at this age I wore this Fossil with skeleton hands for several years - actually this inspired a lot of my tastes, and the Omega SMP was first watch which got me to join the watch forums to learn more and find one for sale. I instead bought the C60 blue then as I could afford it and I've been happy with that - the blue is too bright but its okay. Sadly, the SMP is an increasingly popular watch, I I see more people wearing Omega SMPs than Submariners.
The bezel on the Fossil is fixed, doesn't rotate - and you can see the similarity in skeleton hands, blue dial and bracelet style to the Omega SMP. I don't like the dial and hour markers of the sword handed version as much.
