Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
This is the kind of thing I would not know without seeing the watches myself, thanks for letting us know. I'd have to see for myself to find out. I still wonder about the three orange markers in the black Milgauss, and how they look. Also is the lume color the same on the black and blue versions?mibby wrote:I saw the milgauss "in the metal" for the first time last week. I thought the green crystal rather washes out the colour of the blue dial, TBH. They should have done a blue/clear.
The black/orange dial with the green crystal is lovely...
Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I saw the watch in the flesh a couple of weeks ago and it looks even better than in the piccies!
Well worth buying the car for!

Zenith El Primero 36000vph 42mm tri-color version - now this could be a grail-worthy chronograph.

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I've been day dreaming about these three lately:
Bremont Alt1C PW

Why I've been day dreaming:
- It's a Bremont, and I'm a fanboy even after the whole Wright Flyer debacle.
- The dial. I've absolutely loved the black on white look that Bremont has been using ever since the Victory LE, and this is the most "affordable" version of it so far. Beautiful.
Why it'll remain a day dream:
- Too big. No more 43mms for me. Please, please Nick and Giles, think of us small-wristed folk.
- Don't need another white dial watch.
- Don't need another Bremont.
LumTec Abyss 400M

Why I've been day dreaming:
- Always been intrigued by LumTec.
- Want a blue dial watch and this one looks nice and bold to me.
Why it'll remain a day dream:
- Still a shade too big even at 42mm.
- Wasn't really a fan of the one other Miyota that I owned. Too noisy.
- Probably not a keeper. Trying to stay away from watches that don't at least have a chance to be keepers.
IWC Portuguese Chronograph Classic

Why I've been day dreaming:
- I'll own an IWC some day. It's the brand that I'm currently aspiring to own.
- I like a lot of the Portuguese models out there, but this is the only one that really wows me.
Why it'll remain a day dream:
- Wish it were a tad smaller.
- OMG $$$

Trust in Nick and Giles

(And also do some lovely blue dials which would scratch that itch!)
As for the IWC..... oh mama!

Re: The
"fine" might be a stretch. My Solo, while great, does stretch the limit in terms of what I should be wearing. I wonder what sort of credit I'd get from my AD if I traded it in for one of these Alt1s though. Hmmmm.....smegwina wrote: Of course you need another Bremont!

The U-2 Blue looks a great color but the rest of the dial is a bit underwhelming for me. A blue Supermarine would be aces, but alas, it wears even bigger than my Solo.
And yes, the IWC looks great. The black / rose gold version is just fabulous but even more out of reach. Maybe I can sell some of my employee stock from my previous job and splurge.

Here's more on it if you don't mind drooling over your keyboard:

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I love the look of that Bremont, beautiful. I also am interested when I find a review of someone testing out the hardened steel on the polished case, a scratch resistant polished case would be really cool.
That IWC is totally stunning. I am also really confused by the IWC pricing, they are priced above JLC and Rolex which I find a bit optimistic but they really are beautiful

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I agree on the IWC comment. They are just stunning to look at, even though they may be called overpriced considering their movements. It is the sort of watch which impresses the general public, my girlfriend likes the older version of the IWC Portuguese (without the chrono hours) a lot (more than JLC or Rolex or Patek). This one is a little cluttered and much more expensive. The older one has the 6 and 12 numerals cut off thoughwatchstudent wrote:That IWC is totally stunning. I personally don't see anything special in Bremont. And its mostly British people who are crazy about it, which is understandable.

Perfectly understandable, I would recommend having a look at one though, the cases really are the business.blowfish89 wrote:

Just look at this Grand Seiko!!! Looks amazing. Still don't aspire to own a GS though as I'd be worried about having a very expensive japanese paper weight in 20 years time when i couldn't get it serviced. This is totally gorgeous though. Titanium as well.

ah i see someone already posted about it, never mind, still a nice picture

However - something that was pointed out when they released their Boeing models early this year - I havent been able to get passed. The date wheel seems to be way below the actual dial - it seems as if there are at least a couple of millimeters between and that puts me off. That aside - this is a lovely model!

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
The bezel particularly looks great on it. But I don't know how I feel about the date window. Don't particularly like it at the 4:00 position and the white background is a bit glaring. Luckily, I don't have to think about it too hard. Like all the others, too big.watchstudent wrote:Just look at this Grand Seiko!!! Looks amazing.
