I presume you're thinking of this one Neil, which I have seen mentioned, and considered, before;-



Its OK as it goes but not for me.

To my mind the Tachy scale makes the dial too busy. I'd prefer larger than 41mm and the sticking point (pardon the pun), is the way the chrono pusher blatantly sticks out from the crown; whereas the C9 Me 109 has the pusher looking almost flush but sticking out just enough.

Additionally, I much prefer the style of the dial of the C9 Me 109 and the unique story behind it. Moreover, being an LE, is somewhat more exclusive and I can get a memorable serial number.

Offered one of these new for £3400 (RRP £6750), but don't want to lose my shirt on it if I need to move it on in the future.

Half-price seems a very respectable discount; can't really fathom that it would go much lower.

No idea about which models have been culled, but the Chronomat is on the Breitling website. Appeal to me other than the price is the size isn't ott at 44mm (approx. 16mm tall), I've never had a Breitling and it has the B01 movement and display case back. Awaiting detail of the condition of the watch, which is from an AD which makes the deal sweeter.

Just need to decide whether I'm buying because of the price. Previously put off Breitling due to the discounts, but 50% off seems unusual.

^^^^ Chris I think you are correct to be wary. As you are aware very high discounts are generally available on a Breitling. Yes 50% is more than the norm, however I think that any prudent person looking to buy one pre-owned (I.e. if you buy and then look to move it on) will not be comparing your price to RRP, but to a start point of the best discount from RRP that they think someone may have obtained buying new.

They would probably then want a further discount as the watch would be pre-owned.

No I don’t think you would lose your shirt, but I certainly wouldn’t assume you would come out all square.

Thanks chaps, I'm waiting for the AD to confirm condition - it's new but I know black cases can also be easily marked.

I'm tempted, but having asked myself the question - would I notice it or want one in a shop window? The answer is I would probably walk on by...which is probably what I'll do today.

Arguably 'nearly new' as opposed to new.

The case seems to be gunmetal pvd coloured as opposed to black; is this correct? Rather a smart colour, from my experience of gunmetal cased Elliot Browns.

Bottom line; how much do you want it and is 50% off RRP a sufficient enough discount?
