Tried this on (and the "white grape" version) today. Dials are wonderful. But not so keen on the case or the lugs - a tad too chunky for me.

Rolex wear one size up (2-3mm) from what they measure. 34 =36 etc.

To be honest Pete , I thought you would have gone the vintage route .

I would have if not for my wrecking ball toddler son. I can hardly wear them now for fear of jam smearing and duplo bashing. That's why the cwc's and animals have had so much wear probably I hardly wear anything new thats nor a beater.

That's about right I guess. Two sizes maybe. A lot of fans prefer the 35mm Ahoi against the 40mm version for that reason

Maybe. Or push the ahoi back to next year for an Ahoi/ Orion wedding watch combo for the big day.

Think Charles Boorman wore one on the long way round trip

He certainly did, both on the long way round and the long way down. I have seen the one that he wore at Bremont HQ and considering the abuse metered out to it, it was in remarkable shape! He now has a Supermarine that he seems to favour.

Being a chrono and GMT, you get everything that you need in a bulletproof package. It is simply a bloody brilliant watch!

This is the first of the new 40mm case size I have seen. Tried it on in CW Sellors in Bakewell.


Whilst this particular dial version isn't of interest, I am keen to try on the blue dial. The lug to lug is 49mm.

^^^ Interesting... 49mm L2L is basically the same as the 43mm case... I'm also looking forward to seeing the blue dial.

It's strange never been intrested in Tag watches until I got the Tag formula 1 and have to say quite smitten with it so now thinking of getting an aquaracer to go with it.
So there may be a trade advert soon to see if anyone has one and fancies a Longines Hydroconquest in its place.
