Dreaming about a Planet Ocean 2500 but can't get over the very stupid HEV.

Quite agree. The Desert Sand is just about the one watch I'd be happy to trade up to from my C8 MkI Cream face.gaf1958 wrote:Guy, the dark brown, looks lovely, but IMO the sand is just stunning, I can understand why it's their best seller... Hmmm, food for thoughtBahnstormer_vRS wrote:![]()

Zenith Daytona (http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=462276)
I like it, and hypothetically, it is currently possible to get rid of ALL my watches and just have this, but I do not think it can beat my Sub for a more versatile daily wear.

Why a Zenith one Om, rather than the current model? The Zenith version is thicker, less reliable and more expensive to service...blowfish89 wrote:Zenith Daytona (http://www.rolexforums.com/showthread.php?t=462276)

There might be some bleak hope, there might be a Speedmaster for me.

Is it a Project Alaska Speedy in particular that you're looking at Om?

I think its an interesting model yes, more than other Speedys appeal to me, along with the Gemini and the Japan LE.gaf1958 wrote:Is it a Project Alaska Speedy in particular that you're looking at Om?
I likely can't buy one this year though, and they are hard to find.
Do you have one perchance?

I don't know much about Daytonas (did not know all that), but I thought that at $8.2k this was the lowest priced I have seen for a Daytona. Plus the Zenith ones are older with tritium dials (vintage Daytonas are crazy expensive), and it just has that extra 'cool' factor or 'zing' I look for in all my purchases.nbg wrote:Why a Zenith one Om, rather than the current model? From my watch trials, I also know that the Daytona fits me really well but I just don't like the design that much for it to be my top gem.

It was on my shopping list one time, but the "shuttle" shaped small hands put me off it, although they're easily changed... It's funny the things that bother me, most people seem to like them.blowfish89 wrote:Do you have one perchance?

Re: The
I had one but sold it on not long after getting it. The white dial and shuttle shaped hands look great in pictures but personally I found the watch a bit "gimmicky" and I didn't really get on with the white dial in daily wear. I much prefer the standard black for this modelblowfish89 wrote:I think its an interesting model yes, more than other Speedys appeal to me, along with the Gemini and the Japan LE.gaf1958 wrote:Is it a Project Alaska Speedy in particular that you're looking at Om?

That does seem a good price though if in good condition (that said I am not really sure if I know what a good price is, as I think I could have got a few of my watches cheaper from a forum, rather than a dealer!).blowfish89 wrote: I don't know much about Daytonas (did not know all that), but I thought that at $8.2k this was the lowest priced I have seen for a Daytona. I do prefer the white dial version of the Zenith models, because the ring on the sub-dials stands out more. From what I have read the 4130 movement in the current models may well be the most accurate and reliable chrono movement around and seems to have a lot less parts than the Zenith based 4030.

Ok, this week I am being slightly more realistic and am quite wanting a Helson Shark Diver 40mm!
Am I gonna get stung with taxes if I get this delivered to the UK?

I'm rather partial to either of these two. Seen in the flesh, the hands are simply stunning. Giving some consideration as to perhaps trade in one or two to help fund a purchase, just some idle thoughts really. Photos from the Speake-Marin website.
