Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I passed this up in October but for some reason it won't get out of my head!

Very nice, and the 4-hands is the version to go for. Did you check out the white dial, I think I like it more than the black ?Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:I passed this up in October but for some reason it won't get out of my head!

Yes, and strangely enough this is one black dial I just love. Normally I avoid them.

It's mesmeric in a lurid kind of way.
I'm not keen on the way that inner dial is presented.
The fact that you passed it up in October should not be overlooked.

Wise thinking, scooter. But when did watch collectors ever listen to wisdom?

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
If it weren't for the color and position of the date window, I'd be willing to bet that I would have already picked one of these up even though I already have a dressy Ball watch. It really is nice, but that window just flat out kills it for me. A shame.blowfish89 wrote:I have a couple of itches still to scratch - 1) A gray dial watch, 2) A watch with tritium lume
And here's a Ball Fireman Racer Classic (I wish the date window was at 6 or no-date)

it's funny how the 4:30 position bothers me more on that clean, dressier watch than it does on the C60.

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I feel the same. Part of it has to do with a lack of white anywhere else on the dial other than the small amount of text, but in general, the moment I see a 4:30 date on any watch these days, I scratch the watch off my list. It's a shame because Ball and Bremont both have a number of watches with dates at that position.gwells wrote:it's funny how the 4:30 position bothers me more on that clean, dressier watch than it does on the C60.
Give me no date, date @ 6 or date @ 3 in that order of preference.

Re: The "what watch are you day dreaming about now" thread
I have to agree with both of you. I have a great AD nearby who stocks Ball, and I too would probably pick this one up if not for the date window. Hoping Ball brings out a revised version in Baselworld 2015 or 2016. Also, I have a weakness for 6 o clock date windows, really like them. For this watch, a no-date might be best - but then, Ball would have to do extra work to remove one position of the crown. I wouldn't mind if they had atleast had the date window background color matched.Peteo wrote:I feel the same. Thanks WS
I can't take the credit for the photograph because it was done by learningtofly from TZ.
The watch however, I can.

Thanks for flagging this one up. It's an absolute beauty and may well be my treat for this year.blowfish89 wrote:I may be in the minority but I think I prefer the looks of the older classic IWC Portuguese to the new one.
Anyway, discovered that there's a new Junghans Max Bill Chronoscope released -
