The Seamaster Great White is also a great option but more expensive. Not sure if it has a true GMT movement.

Been after one of these for a while. Thought I'd have to get an eBay wreck and restore it but this one is done already. New bezel, crystal, service all done by Spencer.
The service probably cost almost what he wants for it.
Thoughts?

I was going to buy it tomorrow but the great white sold on eBay today so I guess I'll save my pennies for something from that local vintage shop.blowfish89 wrote:yes yes I have. Trying to move the Damasko first.

But utterly, utterly gorgeous!!!!!

The money isn't too bad when you look at what you get in that case.
Also the only Rolex that I would own.

Mate of mine had one. Too much writing on the dial, and stupidly big, like a clown watch. He flipped it for a rose gold JLC reverso.smegwina wrote:But utterly, utterly gorgeous!!!!!(assuming that you can get past the green writing).

As for the size, I suppose it depends on what you are used to. It is considerably smaller than the PO or Supermarine (although still rather hefty) and I have never really minded the writing.
I am still sorely tempted by the blue dial though. (Wifey is decidedly cool on the idea of owning both however. )

Thanks for the enabling Ferg. They're getting rarer and rarer especially in that condition.MiniMpi wrote:It's a lovely looking piece James and if it's in good nick etc. why not matejames80 wrote:Been after one of these for a while. There was a good selection of Pateks on show in Rome. Just looked at through the window, also one JLC which i thought looked beautiful (by the way I did see Roman things and museums in Rome as well...):
Patek 5164A, if I had the budget I would have the aquanaut over a nautilus
not sure why i do this to myself!

This 5170G remains the best looking watch ever IMO having seen it through a window...

Tribute to 1931 I believe. Best Reverso I have ever seen:

But mostly I am just getting real excited/impatient for my version of this bad boy!

All these images nicked from t'internet
