Second watch on this page for me; this one is realistic and would be ideal for me as an every day watch

Ball have done a terrific job with the dial on that one – in reality you'll really like it more than how the image portrays it.

Can't get on with the number font on the dial, especially when viewed in conjunction with the big date font – they'd have been better off leaving the date out of the design, imo.
Now the Seventies...there's a watch I really could get excited about.

The Glashütte Original watches are beautiful. The only thing I don't like about them is their price tag...

True. I want to find out if they are worth it.

Oh they definitely are, especially if purchased pre-owned.
Won't retain value like a Rolex, and will cost more to service, but by God that pales into insignificance when you see what you get for the money.
The only downside is being Richemont Group owned, so no chance of being serviced other than by GO or Wempe, who charge more than GO themselves do.
And at least unlike Chopard, you won't be asked to part with £2.3K for a SS bracelet!

It seems churlish to mention this, but the reason i choose the moonphase over this one is the white date window!

I'm pretty certain that PP have the means to colour match the date wheel to the dial.

Means yes, but the designer has chosen to opt for a contrasting colour, so that it is more obvious/easier to read at a glance.
I see this mentioned all the time, and my response is the same – you have to accept the designer(s) don't feel the need to colour co-ordinate the date wheel at every given opportunity.
Some will want to blend the date wheel in, so choose a black one or colour match it with the dial – but at certain price points, it definitely becomes more of a cost based decision.

but at this price point, it just looks like penny pinching.

I may be in the minority but I think I prefer the looks of the older classic IWC Portuguese to the new one.

I think they both have their awesomeness. I like the layout and dial design of both quite well. I prefer the overall size of the older model (I think anyway since I haven't seen the new one in the steel yet), but the case shape has always been a little bit of a turn off for me.
