Re: the pet hate department....
Most of mine have been mentioned, so I won't cover them again, but I will add these:
Vintage "reissues" that are enormous compared to the original. If you do a reissue of a 38mm watch, make it 38mm, not 46mm. That's not a reissue, that's "inspired by the original".
Poorly placed date windows. Date goes at 3, 4:30, or 6. Never at 4:20. You know who you are.
Phil, I'm a little surprised at your hate for no self-winding on the SKX. The magic lever system is so efficient that the act of setting the time is usually enough to start it running, unlike ETA movements that require ~20 winds before they start.

Much easier to say what I actually like ...
But there are two fatal flaws most watch companies are guilty of: a stupidly placed date window and excessive case thickness.

Even JLC occasionally sin by adding a date where none should be. Though they often have a model without as well.nbg wrote:Watches made by JLC, plus?Wis wrote:Much easier to say what I actually like ...

Re: the pet hate department....
Fun thread, I looked down at my wrist and was playing 'how many reasons do people hate my watch for?' and the answer is lots!
It's square, gold plated, and has a black dial with a white date window that munches the 3 marker
I have few hates but I'm yet to see a tiny face in a big case that looks good so I'll go with that.

My pet hates were:
Diamonds (way too blingy, tacky), gold case or bracelet, most square faces, skeleton, tourbillons, massive oversized cases (a la TW Steel), Cyclops
oops - i missed this thread, and have largely repeated it.....
however, in my defence, it seems that many people still have an appetite for venting about their pet hates, so perhaps this sort of thread should be a regular feature........

Watches that are too large for the style of watch.
Watches that are too thick for the style of watch.
Watches with stupidly shaped lugs.
Watches with munched numerals.
Watches with chrono sub dials at 6, 9 and 12.
Watches with diamonds on the bezel or dial.
Watches that have useless lume.
Watches with oversize crowns.
Watches with a skeleton dial.
Watches intended for swimming that have a pointlessly excessive amount of WR or an intrusive HEV.
Watches in "gold" that are not gold and any yellow/rose gold bracelet watch.
