watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

Well, hell..agreed..rkovars wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 7:36 pm I think the design is fine for what it is, but I don't know if it is worth the Hodinkee tax and the Caliber 400 bump (seems like caliber 400 models add about $1300 to the price-using the Aquis as a guide). Going for a heavy nostalgia play for sure. The male model in the Hodinkee article looks like he walked off of the 70s era set of This Is Us. If you wanted a 6205 without the price tag this one would be pretty close in dimensions and esthetics. But $3800 bucks... Ouch. That is Black Bay territory. This will be a better offering after Oris brings out the normal 65 with the caliber 400.
Ebels are a lot like women that lack a lowcut dress that zips up the side..neither gets the love that they deserve..

That surprises me Tbh...Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:Probably not the best person to comment, as I have never seen any great attraction in either Oris as a brand or dive watches in general. But my first thought was: yeah…right…next.
One of the last independent brands, doing their own thing, not getting swallowed up by a huge cooperation....
The dive watch bit I totally get, but surely respect for the brand's heritage, ethos etc

I like Oris, it was my first proper watch. However, I think that the price is a bit steep especially when compared to Tudor. Both have in house movements etc.

I reckon it looks boring but also quite good. There is something to be said for simplicity in design and this achieves that with subtle differences to define it as a non standard model - to those who would realise that is. It may also look better in person.
Collaborations sometimes take the changes too far to make it worthy and noticeable. It costs a lot but LE's like this do and with just 400 there will likely be enough enthuiasts out there who are willing to pay it.

I completely understand that. They are undoubtedly very good watches and as you say, the brand has history and ethos. I just don’t find the watches that interesting.angusbon wrote: ↑Thu Aug 19, 2021 8:43 pmThat surprises me Tbh...Amor Vincit Omnia wrote:Probably not the best person to comment, as I have never seen any great attraction in either Oris as a brand or dive watches in general.
