Thanks for the link. Nice watch - but is it me - or are the numerals slightly too small for the face?

IMO , yes they do look a little small , but i actually think the watch would look better without them .

Re: The Habring Jumping Second Date
Good link, Bernie - an interesting little complication, though it does pose a conundrum...
People pay a premium for a watch that doesn't tick 1p/s like a quartz, and here they're charging a premium for a mechanical that does tick 1p/s.

Re: The Habring Jumping Second Date
I agree Steve , the jumping second hand does indeed move like a quartz , and its this that puts me off the watch .
Although the watch itself is a good looking watch with a good movement IMO!

Re: The Habring Jumping Second Date
Is the movement of the second hand that important? A Bulova Precisionist is a quartz where the seconds hand moves like an automatic. Are you interested in the movement or just the look or the perception of what is an automatic watch. For the record I am not fussed on the movement as it is the watch as a whole that would get chose by me regardless of type of movement.

Very true - the second hand sweep movement on my Accutron II (Quartz) appears smoother than the autos I have with full size second hands.ianblyth wrote:A Bulova Precisionist is a quartz where the seconds hand moves like an automatic.

This example of a deadbeat movement sounds like a clock:

It also sounds a bit irregular

While we are on the subject of jumping second hand's
Did you know that Rolex used this complication in their Tru Beat (6556) very rare.

Yes, I have been having a look at a few of these type of movements after your posttempusmaximus wrote:While we are on the subject of jumping second hand's
My conclusion is the beat is irregular, your link above, around 30 seconds the second hand throws a little irregular beat.
Here is another example, watch the movement closely:

It also goes to show that getting a mechanical watch to function as well as a quartz (jumping seconds hand makes it much easier to count seconds and tell the time accurately) is quite hard.
It would be fun when people glance at this watch and assume it is quartz, when it is in fact a mechanical marvel.
I also like the Antoine Martin Slow Runner 1 Hertz Watch, if you can live with half second jumps of the second hand.
