And much better looking, IMO.

Keep it whilst you like it but move it on if the interest wanes or something better comes up.

Very simple logic but eminently sensible.

Why hang on to watches past your sell by date?

Some lovely watches there by the way.

Well said scooter, I am just thinking that none of mine have a sell by date. :)

Great photos as ever, Richard. I always had a soft spot for that Oris and remember your post when you acquired it. You were rather pleased with the results of your efforts to improve it cosmetically. It looked great then and now. It's an interesting watch and therefore it has an extra edge over conventional complications and dial arrangements. It's a lovely watch and one that I was sorry to miss when you moved it on. I know it went to a very good home on the other side of the North Sea, though.

Yes, I have briefly owned two versions of the Oris Worldtimer - the TT1 and the Artelier:

The TT1 went to Jan in Denmark, and the Artelier went to someone on eBay. Of the two, I preferred the TT1.

Having just returned from a forum absence, I am a bit late in posting on this topic. However, I have to admit that I haven't yet sold any watches from my collection although I have a "cunning plan" for when pension age finally catches up with me. I hope then to have a stall or something so that I can sell watches and other bits and pieces, on a small scale. One of my best watch-collecting friendships was made when I met the guy, Stuart, at an antiques/collectables market where he had a stall specialising in watches. He recently died, which was sad news, and in memory of my friendship with him, his son kindly asked me to choose a watch from his remaining stock. I like to feel that by having a cabinet or stall in a similar market, I might meet a few watch collectors and enjoy selling those watches that have to go.

Always interesting to see those that have gone and hear your reasons for moving them on. Fascinating how our reasoning changes as we learn and our experience grows. To an outsider, i.e. a normal person, a watch is more or less a watch. We know better.

Interstingly, I feel the same about Downers watch.. I recall when he bought it...

I too have this space filled with a Bremont but still very much like the look of the Sinn.

Alas I am not as disciplined as Downer so I am not as good as selling on as I am at buying!

Having never sold anything on ebay before (nothing till now either), and having discovered the forums last year, I thought I would never sell a watch. I ventured out and sold a watch for the first time in April 2015 (it was a Steinhart GMT Pepsi).

Since then, my ex- list stands at (in order of sale) -
- Steinhart GMT Pepsi
- Halios Tropik White/SS
- Archimede Pilot 42 Blue PVD
- Seiko SARB017
- CW Trident C60 Blue
- Seiko Shogun
- Oris Aquis Maldives
- Rado D-Star 200 Blue
- Stowa 1938 Chrono Black Dial
- Victorinox Alliance Mechanical
- Eterna Kontiki Four Hands
- Vostok Scuba Dude Orange
- Bagelsport Nautilus Homage
- Damasko DA44

 8)

^^ Any regrets in there (other than the obvious Bagelsport)?

Strangely, I think the sacrifices were well worth it to make the move to a lesser number of more 'upmarket' watches I'm happy with.

If I had to pick one, it would be the blue Trident only because it was my first nice/swiss watch, and I was a little attached to it. It sold within 10 minutes of listing. I'm in contact with the guy who bought it (in Florida) and have asked him to give me a heads-up if he wants to sell it in the future. I also picked a Trident recently in the half off sale, lets see.

The Damasko is another one I might come to regret later (not right now), but its something available in so many variations/colors and I can always pick another up in the future.

There are a few watches there which I will probably never ever find again for the original price at which I had got them because they are rare/discontinued like the Archimede blue pilot, Eterna Kontiki on bracelet, Oris Maldives (Yellow Mako also comes under this but I still have it, doesn't get that much wear but its cheap) - but I just couldn't keep them in the collection just because they were rare if they were not used very frequently. I want to wear all my expensive watches - a lot! (not just one day a week).

I agree with wearing them. And of course, the more they are worn the better. Makes me wonder why I have more than 2 or 3 really...

First step would be stop wanting to buy additional watches.
