Maraeburn wrote: Wed Jul 31, 2024 10:57 am It is a lot yes - but three watch trade and done, just would it be worth it to give up a 1680 sub from '74 in great condition, a green SMP, and a Zenith El Primero... Not sure. What I do know is - someone still hasn't bought it yet, so annoying!
Well it's gone now, so no more agonising. (Unless you actually took the plunge)

They now have a couple of half price Oris models in the sale list.

I'm not keen on the multicolour dial one, although the price is good.

The pointer date wasn't on my awareness register, but that's attractive especially at half price.

I have found them to be, especially in the SOHO NYC store, so obnoxious and condescending that I would never again frequent their store(s). After two visits, one where they would not even le me in without an appointment even though nobody was in the store, I am done with WOS.

Thank you JAFO. I just grabbed the Calibre 403 Pointer Date at half price. I would never have paid £3000 but @ £1500 it is a stunning buy.

Thank you again.

Glad it went to a good home. It's not showing online any more. I was thinking about it, so you've saved me a chunk.of change. :D

I have returned the Oris 403 to T B Mitchell as it wore much smaller than I had hoped/expected. I have already checked that JAFO is not interested.

I've seen quite a few "news" articles about cheap watches in Debenhams and similar stores, which turn out to be Gevril/GV2, not bad homages, and maybe reasonable deals, but I'm not sure.

That's gilding the lily a bit.

A Stuhrling should never be £1,795 in the first place. :-k :-k

A quick search reveals $625 direct from Stuhrling

So £148 isn't too bad then?

Well, it's not 92% and it's hardly original but I'm sure some people will be pleased with it. I think I 'll pass though.
I started out with nothing and I still have most of it left

There is a code for 10% off watches costing £500 or more on eBay until midnight tonight (maximum saving is £500). Not sure if available to all but looks like it may be.

I don't need another Aquis, but if I hadn't got the titanium version, that would be hard to resist. I've bought 2 from TB Mitchell and they have been very helpful..

I have a house rule to never buy a watch 'cos it's cheap.

A wise man, or a fool, once said that rules are there to be ignored or interpreted according to the circumstances of the time by any wise man (or was it a fool?)

Anyway I have the one rule and more than one watch which was bought because it was cheap; just saying.
