I think Goldsmiths must have some sort of 'deal' with Tag. My local branch were telling me a couple of weeks ago that they're expecting in a batch of discontinued models at serious discounts. I'm just waiting for the call to go and have a look!
I was in another jewellers a few weeks back where the lady in the store was trying to convince a friend of mine to purchase a Tag as the prices were due to rise any time soon. Strange this great fluctuation in price.

I just love any TAG's from early years, or from now - it's all classy for me, but mainly all my love given to LEGENDARY Monaco Chrono, weared by Steve "Mr. Cool" McQueen in LeMans film. It's hard to understand for most people. You must be a racer to feel it.

And yet Steve McQueen wore a non date submariner 5512 as his personal watch, he was even wearing it ( the sub that is) in the opening scenes of Le Mans, it is especially noticeable when he gets out of his Porsche 911 at the spot on the track where there was a crash the previous year and two of the competitors died.

Just last night watching "Breaking Bad" on netflix, Jesse gave Walter a Monaco for his birthday. One of the few times I could identify and on-screen watch right off the bat

It may be that there are relatively few Tag buying enthusiasts because a lot of the range is priced more expensively than the value brands that are 'we' enjoy so much and if 'we' ever do save that much cash we save a bit more and leapfrog them to a higher level of luxury watch.

Completely agree. I've never found a Tag that captivates me to pursue for purchase.

totally agree the original sub is a great watch and I think most people knew steve McQueen wore one has his own personal watch but he wore the blue heuer Monaco through the film also, infact this model is known as the McQueen model because of the connection.but I also know in reality it is said that mcqueen didn't like the watch and flipped it soon after filming finished

I read somewhere that Steve McQueen had a few Heuer watches to choose from during the filming of Le Mans and he wore a different watch each day during filming. The Monaco was just the one court on camera rather than the watch he chose.

Where is Mr Rick, he of all people will probably know.

(I could be wrong on this one but I'm sure I read something a long those lines somewhere)

this may well be that one picture but the model is still connected to McQueen in the film and this thread is about tag heuer watches if the thread was about rolex we could also say he wore that as well during filming but it is not :)

It's the aqua racer that has taken my fancy. Any views on the caliber 5 automatic?

I can tell you that before I ordered my C60, I was very seriously considering an Aquaracer Calibre 5. After doing some research, I found that there is apparently an issue with the screw down crown. It seems that it is pretty easy to cross thread the crown and strip the threads. This apparently isn't covered by Tags warranty and can cost upwards of $200 to fix. Having said all of this, I still have one on my radar as my local AD offers their own warranty that does, in fact, cover this type of potential damage. It was while doing research on the Tag that I found CWL.
