Steinhart or CW?

Post by willttqs »

If you were buying an automatic watch with an ETA movement, non chronometer, what would you go for Steinhart of CW? I have neither at the moment, like both manufacturers and would like a bronze watch next (which I know CW don't currently offer)

I think there was a thread discussing the idea of a bronze Trident in this forum - however when and whether it will be are still questionable.

I personally like CW approach better as mostly is not a direct homage.

Horses for courses - Steinhart seem to know who they are, what they are and are sticking resolutely to a particular sector and price range.

CW are more ambitious, have greater design flair and a desire to branch out of the lower end quality market to challenge high end brands but they seem to have more of an identity crisis doing this.

Depends what takes your fancy if none of the above matters.

The Steinhart bronze is a very smart watch. I own 2 Steinharts & they are excellent watches at their pricepoint. The CWL , if it ever arrives, will be much more expensive. Your call.

I now prefer Steinhart because they are consistent.

If I wanted a bronze piece then I would coo at the pictures provided of the potentially forthcoming bronze C60 then get on over to the Steinhart website and grab the Ocean 1 bronze. In fact, if the bronze C60 were available right now, I would still select the Ocean 1 bronze as I prefer the slimmer mid-case of the Ocean range.

The way I see it if you want a bronze watch why not get something original, and not Sub homage?

Not sure the Ocean 1 Bronze is an obvious Sub homage
