I don't think that I can spot a fake watch just by looking at the owner's wrist. I also think that it is getting harder and harder to identify fake watches because fakes are better than they used to be. Without having a look at the movement, it might be impossible to tell a genuine Rolex from a "good" fake. That doesn't mean that I approve of faked watches, of course. I'd never buy one and would never wear one. It just wouldn't feel right.
However, I have seen several Louis Vuitton bags on the train today that are probably not the real thing .

Re: spotting a fake?
I agree completely. I have a friend who has a Faulex (see what I did there) that has an ETA movement and the weight of a real Rolex. He once managed to swap his bosses Rolex with his fake and his boss never knew the difference. Says he wore it for a whole week before he gave his boss back the real Rolex. Says that his boss was pretty angry with him when he told him what he had done.Serlo wrote:I don't think that I can spot a fake watch just by looking at the owner's wrist. Surprised he didn't get the sack to be honest! I don't know why anyone would be that desperate to have 'the brand name' but not the brand quality/workmaship etc.
Re: spotting a fake?
Once met a guy with a Monaco V4 belt drive. Took a few days for him to tell me it was fake. I think he paid 500 or 600 euro for it. Seemed silly to me.
And no I had no idea it was a fake. We talked about watches in general and I handled it and still couldn't tell.
