I'm not saying its completely safe, originality wise, (hands?) but its at least sold by a site you can surely trust (and in the UK too): Chronomaster - watch is about half way down the page.

Ouch........that's rather pricey!! Enicar wasn't a bad brand, and some of their rarer models sell for higher prices, but you can do a LOT better than that for 245 notes!!

Probably explains why it hasn't sold all year

Of course you are right Monkey - Im not an expert on vintage yet, possibly never will be until i dip my toes in the water and start buying but there is a hell of alot of risk in collecting vintage for newbies and so much stuff is overpriced these days it seems i'm forever being put off the idea.

where are all the proper deals vintage wise guys?

I might have conceeded to defeat in finding a vintage model but i wouldn't mind one of these:

(not the FS watch + borrowed pic)

not a classic and not a watch i HAVE to have at this point in time but a looker for me - i have nothing in my collection pre millenium.

Owner wants £800 - mint and in box with papers with recent service but i'm not convinced its worth it, what does the forum think?

Having this day joined the vintage owners club and looking at elderly Omegas, I would have thought that was an excellent buy with box and papers. However, I'm not an expert (see earlier posts for proof  ) so wouldn't know a real Omega from a fake. But, if it's real, then go for it.

That's 800 quid for a stock quartz watch with an Omega badge on it!! Try to look beyond the 'label' to see what your actually getting

You can get a very nice new auto for that money, and even more if you look at used watches!!

I'm no expert......but I have gained a lot of knowledge over the last few years I've been into vintage watches, and to date, have only made one bad purchase, early on, which, luckily, wasn't expensive!!

I started out avoiding the 'big' brands, as there are more ways to get burnt that way, and I didn't know how serious I was going to take it..........now it's a kind of addiction!! lol .........but I do have a nice collection of vintage watches now :D

lol, yeah i know i guess - got my Ball 7750 Stormchaser for that money - but i dont just want auto's in my collection and its a fine quartz peice plus i like the badge and the quality is there. However it is too expensive - just done a search and RRP when it was released in the late 90's was £950 apparently. :?

Not a bad return if it sells for that much but i don't think i'l buy it as much as im tempted. bargains are harder to find on vintage (or discontinued) watches then they are on new ones ( at which i've got really good at finding deals thankfully :) ) - i give up !

Keep all the vintage knowledge coming though, its a good discussion point in these ''dry days'' ;) and seems to be the forums Zeitgeist at the moment ......i still like that Omega :(

Yeah, I'd be passing up on that one tbh?!! If you like Omegas......how bout looking for a vintage 'hummer' .......tuning fork watch, usually badged up as F300hz?!!

Now, they are nice, and a bit rarer, and just a little bit different :D

Here's mine from 1974....

Image

Oh, and a watch made in the 90's doesn't qualify as vintage

I know that! - thread just says seamaster but hey........it will be one day! :)

Not a bad idea actually, do like the idea of hummers - who doesn't.
I think yes, i would like to stick with Omega's. But what price to expect these days?
