Thanks for that link. Guinand have some interesting designs. I particularly like their elegant Regulateur, but that's for another day!Galton321 wrote:Have a look at Guinand watches for something different. Lots of white/cream chronos by the man from Sinn http://www.guinand-watch.com
Thanks Pete. That's an interesting point, that most of the B&R height is the crystal. Hmmm, I shall have to find a stockist nearby so I can try one on.Dancematt wrote:Do love those Jughans and the B&R, most of the height is the crystal?
Weird that there are inconsistencies, so I shall keep an open mind on the Junghans' height. However, it may be a bit on the dressy side for what I'm after.gwells wrote:hrm. amazon shows 13.9 and i've seen that number on a few other sites. not sure that 0.6mm is enough to make a difference.
Thanks Robin. The non-chrono Damasko's have been on my radar for a long time and that chrono looks pretty good too. Interesting!Robin CB wrote:The sub-dials have the wrong aspect, but I think the other criteria match -

Re: Recommend me a slim white/cream chronograph
Hi schticy, many thanks for that info and for your fantastic pictures. That's a really useful comparison of the two heights. I was aware of the 1mm difference, although the Stowa site still says the handwound is 14.7mm.schticy wrote:I have those Stowas - both are beautiful watches. And while the auto is over your limit (14.7 afaik) the handwound version of the Marine Chrono is about 1mm thinner - so somewhere under 14mm.
Even at 13.7mm, I still wonder if the handwound is a little tall for the case diameter. How do you find they wear, e.g. under a shirt cuff? Does the 1mm make a lot of difference in practice - either to comfort or to how they look on the wrist?

I've been looking for something like this, and Chronomaster has a few interesting pieces.

What, you mean this beauty?footycrazy wrote:Longines master bi compax 40mm x 11.8mm for around £1730 or less.
Very nice. Although the date window obliterating most of the 6 seems a bit unnecessary.
It's really hard to find any info to confirm the height, but I think your 11.8mm is about right, which is remarkable really. This is a model that has been around for a while I think, so maybe there are some discounts to be had?
Thanks for the tip!

Thanks for those tips, Mark. But it's got to be a chronograph for this purchase!Drmarkf wrote:I've been looking for something like this, and Chronomaster has a few interesting pieces.

Re: Recommend me a slim white/cream chronograph
Well if you want something slim you're probably looking at something with a 2894 movement instead of a Valjoux. So introducing the Tissot T66.1.712.31 which comes in at 12mm in thickness.
http://www.tissot.ch/?collections/produ ... 6.1.712.31
I think this will be a little difficult to find online though but I have seen it at some Tissot boutiques.

Re: Recommend me a slim white/cream chronograph
Yes, the Stowa figure is definitely a typo, and so probably about 13.7mm. In real life, wears a bit slimmer. But not a slim watch, still feels chunky - maybe not the best choice if you want something that feels slim.welshlad wrote:Hi schticy, many thanks for that info and for your fantastic pictures. TBH I'd struggle to describe anything over 10mm as slim (eg the C5 at 10.8mm is still a bit on the thick side.) Limits the options a bit - esp looking at chronographs!

Well, probably extremely difficult to find one on the market, but this Union Glahshutte might fit the bill.

Nice to see white faced dials getting some coverage.

Re: Recommend me a slim white/cream chronograph
Steve,
What about a Limes Pharo at about €2,500?
I don't know how thick it is, but it has a good movement and the 'feel' of my £8K Zenith, it looks lovely and is about 42mm I think!

Re: Recommend me a slim white/cream chronograph
Just a thought, have you considered a vintage? There will be some absolutely cracking chronos e..g fromTudor, Breitling that fit both the description of what you want and your price bracket. Worth a look?!
Re: Recommend me a slim white/cream chronograph
I too have been scouting around for a white chrono (preferably panda dial but I know you're not a fan) and came across this. Another Longines suggestion.
http://www.hodinkee.com/blog/2011/5/31/ ... rists.html
It has a slightly more interesting movement from the usual 7750s in this price range. It comes in many variations, some 39mm and some 40mm. So it may be a bit small for you. Also, not a big fan of the date position (would prefer no date) but you may not be put off by it. I've struggled to find anywhere which reliably gives the case depth measurement. However, with the movement being only 7.9mm deep it can't be a huge case. I did find the movement in another Longines chrono and that case was only 12.5mm deep (see below - the teeny hands put me off the 1942 though).
