Quick question about heart rate monitor watches

Post by Mr Kirk »

Hi all. Recently started running and wanted some quick advice about heart rate monitor watches. Any recommendations? Only something cheap, and I mean cheap, <£50.

Any in particular I should avoid? It doesn't have to be amazing, just time, timer and heart rate. Waterproof would be a bonus.

Second hand is ok.

Thanks in advance.

Cant be a massive help, but I got a Suunto one from my dad as a birthday present about 4 years ago and it works well. Comes with a belt thing that goes on your chest, not as uncomfortable as it sounds.

Seen some with the chest belt, would prefer without!

All decent hr monitors will have the strap, I've used them running and riding and you forget it's there.

You can't go wrong with anything from Sigma. I've had two a PC11 which I then gave to my wife and a PC15 which I'd still be using if I hadn't been given a Garmin.

Just looked amazon UK has a good selection for under 50, I didn't closely check the spec but the PC15.10 looks like it will do everything you want and more for 39.99

I have a Polar FT7 - its very good. I have recently upgraded to a H7 belt, which means I can drop the need for a watch and go straight to the iPhone via blutooth.

I'm selling the FT7 on Ebay.

Ended up buying a TomTom runner cardio which has built in heart rate monitor. Second hand from eBay and 3 times as much as I wanted to spend but does what if want perfectly.
