Maybe an easier decision once a few pictures with the injection moulded numerals have been circulated.

Updated designs have been posted to the online shop, now featuring the injection-moulded numerals and a slightly different second hand.

Re: Pinion Atom 39 ND
I think a lot of small brands are suffering in the same way right now. One company that Schofield were dealing with went bust!

Re: Pinion Atom 39 ND
I’ve just received and email with updated details on the availability and designs for this.
The moulded luminova numerals and plots together with the raised rehaut that emphasised them have gone. Personally, these were amongst the main attractions of this model and I now find this revised design rather flat and ordinary.
Th dial just doesn’t look right to me; the five minute interval plots have moved too far into the dial and are three different shaped markers really needed? I also can’t see the point of the half hour tick marks. Overall, the dial now looks very crowded.

I agree. Some of the simplicity has been lost along the way.
I wish them well with the launch although I’m not going ahead with my preorder.

Re: Pinion Atom 39 ND
The injection moulded lume numerals, a bit like my old zenith, was the one thing that drew me to this and now that's gone so it is just another pinion to my eyes unfortunately.
Cheers now, Paul

Re: Pinion Atom 39 ND
As much as I'm a fan of the brand I think Piers has missed with this one I'm afraid. I wasn't on the preorder list anyway with it being ND (I did ask if there was to be a date version but none planned) but did like the two tone dial on the original designs with different depths - it was something different. This just looks flat in comparison. Having said that, I'm sure it will sell OK.
Re: Pinion Atom 39 ND
Hi guys, thought I'd add to this having seen the comments. Firstly, I appreciate that the design isn't to all tastes - But I do take all forms of criticism in a positive manner for future models, so it's all noted!
From the failings and unresolved issues with the dial company I was using, who I had only commissioned before on the original Atom 39 ( They also showed me injection moulded luminova in Switzerland last June ) my plan was to have finished samples with this moulded luminova at the latest in November 2019, but all that was delivered were printed dial samples, in which they forgot to add the inner circle overprint. Then another 7 or so months ( Okay Coronavirus didn't help!) to only be told it would have to be 'started again' without ever seeing any of these mouldings was hugely disappointment, hence why I halted the project as I wasn't prepared to wait another six months or more without any reassurance I would ever see anything. Just to note: when I did the original Atom 39, there were 200 dials made by the company that came out with incorrect colours which had to be redone, so my confidence in them wasn't the strongest.
I had already invested a considerable amount of money on more movements, cases, new hands so I wanted to come up with an alternative that could work and with a company that I could trust.
I then revised it using my existing dial maker. Whilst these dials are simpler, they are production quality wise ( and cost ) much more than what could have been delivered using the existing company, price per unit is always high especially if you are only doing a run 150 dials. Their actual luminova application ( printing ) is also far superior and stronger to what was on the original Atom 39s (they are also working on my new chronograph).
Ultimately, being able to complete this project in is a bonus for me. I've already taken more pre-orders than I had expected especially given the whole climate has changed since this model was first announced, but it's not been easy! Piers
