@Thermexman - You're about right on Steve.

Usually its a case that the dealer has registered the car as 'new' to meet sales targets but doesn't have to pay the Manufacturer/UK Importer for three months and can't sell it within that period, without invoking penalties / loss of bonuses from the manufacturer/importer.

Its a widely used practice across the car industry. Of course, a pre-registered car sold in this way will have to be a 'cash' deal i.e. the buyer won't be able to use the dealer's finance facilities as that will clearly blow the whistle on their little ruse.

How the dealer then plays selling the car is then down to them.

Some, as you experienced 1st time around, will keep schtum hoping that they will be able to get away without the buyer noticing and get it reregistered in the buyer's name in due course. Others will be upfront and give the buyer the option to wait three months, as you did 2nd time around, or for the buyer to take the car at their own risk.

I would not be at all surprised if this is a possible reason for grey market watch dealers not supplying warranty docs (although not relevant to the OP's situation).

Leslie Davis is part of Signet Group and it may be because they rotate stock around the country and so it's simply to stop the paperwork getting lost.

However - there are many more potential reasons - it may be that the stock is still property of Omega until sold (i.e. the dealer has had it on sale or return) or that it's stock that's been acquired on finance through a 3rd party, so the finance provider wants an audit trail to the assets that the loan is secured on - so the warranty paperwork is used for this.

I doubt that there's anything that would impact the customer, and as long as you pay by credit card you're doubly covered (both by sale of gods act and by C'card Ts &cs).

They will probably put it back on sale when they get new cards from Omega.
