You know, I believe the manual wind turned him off at first. I'm not sure if he has one now.

As for CW watches, I had a jumping hand this year but it didn't work for me on the wrist so I sent it back.

Lovely review.

Received my 1999 example last Friday  , now getting used to the regime of winding it every morning.

I have to decide what is the best strap to wear it on, currently on an old CW very dark brown almost black strap. Should be able to make the bracelet the correct size later today, then likely to swap to that. I've been on-line looking at what others have done (the thread on here was good), seems I have just so many options. :o

Probably the best watch review I have ever read! Well done indeed Basho, and just for the record I found the final part incredibly poignant. The reason? I got my own Speedy Moonwatch as a memento of my own mother who passed away in February. We seem to have something in common here.

Well I was looking forward to getting mine today, but, after repeatedly telling me I'd get it before Christmas (originally by end of November!), turns out Chronext can't source it. So no Christmas pressie for me. Despite ordering on 18th November. So have cancelled my order this morning, fed up with being told rubbish and now no faith in the company. Just want to get my money back now.

Edit: I just checked the date of ordering, it was 18th not 13th November as I originally posted. Changed as I wanted to make sure I was accurate when making a criticism of a company.

That's naughty because they are still advertising a Moonwatch for £2690 on their site and stating that it's available.

A very good review, Basho, thanks much. Your story telling was excellent, it made the review come alive in a way not often, if ever, seen.

Maybe it's available because he cancelled his order?

If they can't source it how can it be available?

Naughty is putting it mildly scooter. I'd class it as down right dishonest. :problem:

@tempus fugit has been waiting at least 6 weeks for the unobtainable. He's ****$ed off, rightly so, as he hasn't got the watch he was after and has no doubt wasted alternative buying opportunities.

Watch Obsession appear to have a selection of Speedmaster Moonwatches at varying prices (not sue which one matches up with the one tempus fugit was after) which are work a look. Plus they have :-

20% OFF ALL ORDERS OVER £100
Use the offer code ADVENT22 during checkout.
This is the big one! 20% off all orders over £100 – no exceptions! Whether you're stocking up on straps and tools, or splashing out on that watch you've had your eye on, we've got you covered – but be quick, as this offer is for today only!

Hope this helps.

Guy

Was trying to be humorous, but Guy's point is well made.

No problem. I bought mine online and got lucky with next day delivery. However, I should have gone to a main dealer. I spent so many hours in the Goldsmiths in Canary Wharf that I really owed them the money as the service and help was spectacular.

I was quoting them as at this morning, they have no Moonwatches in Cologne let alone in UK. Sorry guys but I don't wish to hijack this excellent thread. I may start a new one to share my experiences. Please no more replies on this on this thread.

Sorry.
Don't worry; I had picked up the satirical, or is is sarcastic, tone in your post. :D

Meanwhile I remember seeing a brief article on Watchfinder a couple of months ago on the subject of Hesalite vs Sapphire which is worth linking into @bashomatsuo's review.
