Great watch Hans,as you probably know i have an Omega Seamaster Professional Auto with the same box and book as you but i bet in spite of the cost they never supplied you with a cleaning cloth did they?.I never got one, thought i'd point that out just to show how good CW is as he can find his way to supplying one.
Please correct me if i,m wrong

I don't normally care for Omegas but that one might be changing my opinion. I really like the raised OMEGA lettering and love the blue hands and markers on the dial.

What is the Omega co-axial thing about? I see that all the time with Omegas but don't know what it is.

Great photos as always!

A quote from the Omega website:

"...The escapement is the heart of every mechanical watch and the basic theory behind it has remained unchanged for over 200 years. Today, OMEGA breaks the mould with a totally new design, the Co-Axial escapement, developed in conjuction with master watchmaker George Daniels.

The new design is based on double Co-Axial escape wheel, a lever with three pallet stones and impulse stone on the balance roller, together with a free sprung-balance. The Co-Axial system reduces sliding friction compared with the lever escapement and thus ensures greater accuracy over time..."

I do. Super watches Omega's are and unlike say Rolex the prices are not in fairy land. Okay they are not cheap either but the are reasonable for what you get. In my view the likes of Rolex are way over priced tat. Even the real thing often looks fake as the quality feel or finish is not there. Of course it is just a personal opinion but not for me I am afraid. Now an Omega is a different story. If I am not mistaken the watch Han's has there is under £1300 new. As I say it is not cheap but it is gorgeous compared to a low end Rolex. I could not even buy an Air King for that money and it looks like a £40 Sekonda.

Very nice Hans. You are a very lucky chap indeed.

Sorry to all the Rolex fans out there but you got screwed

Concerning the Air King: I think they make nice ladies watches.

Hans, congrats on the new piece. Very nice. I hope the operations manual is in 27 languages. Looks a little ominous. Oh yeah, gratuitous lume shot please.

Hmmm.

The co-axial escapement is in fact an English invention, by George Daniels. Omega (much as I like them) didn not co-invent it, but they did take it into production (which was considered a brave move in itself).

Offtopic: I must admit, I paid a little bit more for this Rolex, but I still enjoy it very much, don't care what others say :breit:
