Omega Seamaster 300 M Chronometer 2254.50

This will look great but Is that an original omega dial Clarky? if so whats it from?
yes it is a genuine omega dial and seconds hand.
The dial is from the non Americas cup 2230 and the seconds hand is from a planet ocean.

I have a couple of projects on the go at the moment and when I get around to swapping out these bits I will take some pictures as I go and will post them for anyone interested.

They are an absolute classic watch these, one of the best Omega's ever.

I just sold my electric blue SMP, but only because I had a couple of blue faced divers and I'm looking to replace it with a 2254.50 like yours.

They look so much better than the bond versions, and the bracelets are superb quality too.

Just need to keep my eyes open for one now!

Not sure about that yet. I don't like the fact that the clasp does not have micro adjustment and the only way to size is with the links. Even if they do have half size. It is not the same. And the links have collars (like the C2/C20 and Seiko Monster bracelets) so are a nightmare to change. My first impression is that the bracelet is nowhere near the quality of the Breitling bracelets and the CWL C4/C7 bracelets stands up quite well to it.

No problem. I like the dial. Not sure I would do the second hand as well.

Better than a Bond? Yep.
Indeed. The PO is a lot better especially with the crystal which looks like it is not there on the PO but the SM does catch the reflections. It is slightly domed as well which does not help. But although I thought about a PO I found that when I saw the pictures of this one it had more appeal to me.

I did google but got swamped by results and nothing jumped out.
The Omega web site still has a lot of information. On this model.

They have a nice FAQ which describes differences between some models - specifically the Bond ones.

I chose the Trident as a comparison as they are both divers with a wavy black dial. Although the Omega is 41 mm compared to 42mm for the Trident, it looks bigger. The flatter bezel and thinner body make it look quite large on the wrist. I was thinking the same myself and came to the conclusion that if the C60 had the same lume as the Omega I would prefer the C60. While the Omega is nice it did not blow me away when I picked it up. Wearing it for a while it does grow on you and it passed the driving in the dark test where I could glance at the watch and read the time. When you look at the cost of a C60 Trident it is amazing value for money. And delightfully quirky with the trident seconds hand.

Although the Omega has a 120 click bezel as it is so thin and flat it is hard to get a grip of to turn it.

Nothing, I repeat nothing, is as nightmarish a thing to do as to resize a monster bracelet!!

At least the Omega and C2 bracelet collars are big enough to see and you don't have to pick them up with tweezers!

I know what you mean about the lack of clasp adjustment, but the SMP is one of those watches where you can wear the bracelet a bit bigger than others as the watch head is so nicely balanced by the weight of the bracelet. That, and the fact that the case shape just sits so 'right' on the wrist, it just doesn't seem to move very far once worn.

It's certainly better balanced than both my Breitling watches (a B-1 and a Superocean), I actually wear the B-1 on an Ocean Racer rubber pretty much all the time now for that reason, it doesn't twist around my wrist like it does on the bracelet.

Breitling bracelets are well made though, the screws make resizing very easy.

I agree, you can easily wear Omega bracelets a bit looser than normal, since the watch is so well balanced and doesn't move on the wrist.

I think the other benefit is the heavy engraving on the caseback. This acts as a non-slip patch on the wrist.

I think the display back on the new PO is a backward step in this respect.

As lovely as that dial is, not sure if I would be brave enough (or even want) to mod a discounted premium watch that is only going to get rarer and more desirable. Hence it may go up in price!

But hey, if you want to take yours out of the gene pool please go ahead
