Crown at 4 o'clock, vertical date at 5 o'clock... there is one custom date wheel under that dial!Bahnstormer_vRS wrote: ↑Thu May 22, 2025 4:06 pm Quartz / handwound day #7 - interloper -
Elliot Brown Tyneham (automatic) to see how well an Automatic responds, even when being sedentary.
It started running when I put it on my wrist, zero hand winding, and has a Power Reserve to show how effective any auto winding is; of course this isn't an exact test as I don't know on what scale the PR dial is calibrated. Maybe 0% - 50%, maybe 0% - 100%, maybe 25% to 75%. I'll try and work it out.

On the wrist... 1970s, one jewel, pin lever, Hong Kong survivor!!!
Love that loud ticking of metal on metal
On the bench... Soo much fun with the saw, torch and chemicals for a tie-die effect.

As it's getting cooler down under, it's time for the straps to make an appearance. Something fun for the Gemini Speedy - deployant style of course.

I’m imagining Mrs Iain sent you away for a few hours again, said here’s a few quid to go buy yourself some fish and chips, and you’ve fulfilled that brief but cleverly managed to throw in a pint as well!

Only rub, is that Miyota has retired the movement EB used in their Tyneham, so had to retire that too last summer.

Quartz / handwound day #9 -
Following up on yesterdays 7734 powered vintage GALO, I've moved over to my Pinion R-1969 that uses a NOS 7734 (found boxed and not yet assembled, dated 1969) for today.
Being non-quickset, I've opted not to wind the hands forwards 9 days, preferring to leave it on the 15th.

Mrs Iain might well frequently tell me to get lost, but she’s a Yorkshire lass so the chances of her funding my alcohol influenced adventures are slim to none existent.

No pressing engagements or deadlines for the next week, so it’s “-ish” time.

It’s our wedding anniversary today. 22 years.
I’d better wear something almost elegant then for our meal out.
