The watch that rekindled my fascination with mechanical time pieces nearly 8 years ago. Purchased in Grand Cayman while on a cruise with friends, I was taken in by the open face and the visible working balance. I was pleasantly surprised that after not being worn for nearly a year its is running strong at approx +5 seconds over the last 24 hrs.

Time and money? I’ve spent most of mine on booze and women. The rest I just wasted…

Maybe redefining 'beater' a bit, but for me it's more than suitable tough-wise for anything my life would do to it. I'd wear it anywhere and if it got a bit scratched up and battered I wouldn't be in the slightest bit unhappy. I worked and spent and saved and learned a lot about watches for a long time to get here, so the thought of wearing a cheap watch to keep this one safe just doesn't make any sense.
This watch is too precious to keep safe in a box

Well put Lindsay. I would say most of my collection falls into that category. The only problem I have currently is I haven't arrived at a real favorite, and I continually feel as though I am neglecting one or the other by not giving said watch enough wrist time.
