Can my beautiful linen dial hummer survive the "wear it all day" test or will it go back in the box?

Methinks that would be a joy to wear all day.tikkathree wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 11:02 am Can my beautiful linen dial hummer survive the "wear it all day" test or will it go back in the box?20230226_100217.jpg

Re: Non CW of the Day
This is my oldest still functioning watch and has just had its 25th birthday. I bought it to celebrate a work promotion and my initial aim was to get a TAG Heuer quartz but the high tech ceramic case, solar charging and atomic clock syncing appealed to my nerd in me.
Like the TAG I had my eye on at the time, its looks haven’t dated very well but it still means a lot to me. It still charges and syncs with atomic clock signal though a full charge doesn’t last half as long anymore so it now lives on the window ledge in the spare room to keep it alive.

Re: Non CW of the Day
And now for something completely different...
I recently found, buried in a box of old junk, the watch that my late grandmother gave me for my 18th birthday (ignore the space-time continuum problem that I'm still only 5). I wore this watch continually from that day, all through university, every exam, every exploit, when I started work - probably until I was in my mid 20s, when I think the clasp broke.
Indeed, half the clasp was missing and the whole bracelet was fairly green and in need of a clean. I bought a new clasp from Cousins, put in a new battery and gave the bracelet a good scrub and "hey, presto" it's now up and running again. The inside of the crystal could do with a clean, but taking out the movement and disengaging the crown is beyond me.
It's fair to say that my current tastes have moved on considerably since I was 18 - and not just regarding watches - but it's nice to have it back in the watch box ticking away, even if it won't get worn that often. Anyway, here it is...

It's been the moment for some "ish" time this afternoon, before the madness of work recommences tomorrow...

Re: Non CW of the Day
I’ve still got the Seiko my parents got me for my 18th birthday. I wore this a lot up until my late 30s and it was still getting a decent amount of wrist time until the movement packed in about 15 years ago. I’d love to get it up and running again but replacement movements are almost impossible to get hold of.welshlad wrote: ↑Sun Feb 26, 2023 1:58 pm And now for something completely different...
