Mmmmm the 200m lumed 8F with independant hour hand. Quite possibly the best quartz GS ever. The one I would have chose but you can't find them for toffee.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

Thank you for the compliments on the GS, Graham and Pete :) Technically it's not mine but my lady's watch though. I am authorized to wear for what I sourced and paid for.... haha. Pete, I got lucky on a bid, although didn't specifically look for one but pretty happy it's been made available to me.

Aifo, I don't know much about Grand Seiko. Are there autos for ladies? A quick Google search seems to say no, but I see there are 38mm autos (pretty pricey, though).

Hi Asqwerth, yes there are plenty of autos in the Grand Seiko range, and mostly between 36-38mm in size. The autos, in particular, are pretty pricey. A brand new, standard auto, would be around GBP 2K+. The GS line goes back to the 60s though, so there are still quite a few relatively affordable vintage. For example, I really like the 61GS

Here's a link to the Grand Seiko's site in Japanese, I think with a bit of google translate it is still ok for reference sake. http://www.seiko-watch.co.jp/gs/collection/index.html

Just choose your vintage GS very carefully as Seiko do not carry, have once stock is depleted or will make any spare parts for watches over 10 years old.

Thanks, Aifo, and thank you, Clarky, for the caution.

Thanks for pointing this out Clarky - it might be worth a separate topic in its own right. There are probably several of us (myself included) who are Seiko fans and would be looking at a vintage GS.
