A 'new' vintage seiko 5 arrived today to satisfy my love of square watches
That's a great looking watch Lindsey. Interesting diagonally brushed finish on the dial.

Looks to be in lovely condition too

Thanks Ryan, it is in lovely condition. Just lovely all round. And 22mm lugs, so I have a whole new subset of my strap collection to play with!

That looks rather good.

I reckon it would be possible to have a lot of fun putting together a vintage collection of Seiko only.

I am also thinking that your “sticking to three to wear for January” is now a forlorn hope! :)

I'm having lots of thoughts at the moment about vintage seiko. Or vintage in general as the basis of a collection. By this I mean cheap! I've hit my fiscal limits but still love looking around at watches and having a small collection. This vintage seiko five is very lovely, and in very good condition. I'm very happy with it.

As for sticking to three for January, I'm interested in seeing what it's like to wear just this one, my golden dialled seiko 5, and another seiko five gifted to me a few years back by a friend on the forum. I'll start from now, and report back! (Of course, this one gets the honeymoon period, which may last some time!)

Very smart.

Does it seem much smaller on the wrist than your Milgauss?

(I realise it’s referred to by Rolex as 41, but in reality is less).

Yes! Very much so! But I think that has more to do with the noticeably thinner case. It is a more comfortable watch to wear (for me) as well due to the comparative lightness. The Milgauss wasn't all that heavy, but I was always conscious that something was wrapped around my wrist. The Datejust sort of "disappears" if I'm not looking at it.

An alternative from the Pinion family.

My R-1969 on a Burgundy (a colour I feel suits the watch really well) Zuludiver Veryan NATO, for the evening.

I had never heard of Pinion until recently around here. I like the Atom in black and in blue. Very clean look.

Are they really made in the UK?

They are designed in the UK, and final testing and assembly is also done in the UK. The components are manufactured/sourced elsewhere.
