It's Moonday! 44 years ago today Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans to set foot on the surface of the moon. Of course I'm wearing this today:



Interesting fact: Neil Armstrong was not the first man to wear a Speedmaster on the surface of the moon. His Speedy was left in the control module after an electronic timer on the module failed. Buzz Aldrin was the first man to wear the Omega Speedmaster on the moon.

"It was optional to wear while we were walking on the surface of the moon ... few things are less necessary when walking around on the moon than knowing what time it is in Houston, Texas. Nonetheless, being a watch guy, I decided to strap the Speedmaster onto my right wrist around the outside of my bulky spacesuit."

I like that, a bit of history with our NCWOTD SHOTS, did not realise the anniversary was today.

wow 44 years! Where does the time go? I remember vividly watching that on tv. Must be an omen of sorts; a local pawn shop has been listing a Speedy on CL lately and I was planning to stop in today and check it out

War and peace show this weekend, almost bought a really nice Yema navigraph quartz 300m diver with proplof bezel lock system but I restrained myself.

Might be, have no idea!

And it was a very, very poor showing for watches this year (discounting the plethora of cwc's of course), only saw the yema, a hamilton khaki quartz and a vostok amphibia, everything else was trash, no seiko raf's or Omegas (or german watches) .

A great shame

I haven't been for a couple of years, but last time I went there were a couple of stalls selling nice vintage watches, including the guy who specialises in WW2 German (and one, not so nice, stall selling very dodgy "rolexes")
