Was given this the other day by someone who found it in a drawer.

As far as I can tell they are some brand associated with Readers Digest, but nicely made with a uni-directional clicky bezel (though what they thought people would do with it...) and very nice finish to both the polished and matt surfaces.

Movement has no obvious maker mark stamped on it, but seems to be pretty well made...

a rodina day.
Whoa that Rodina is only $199? Looks just as good as the Stowas...
I'm pretty sure you can pick it up for even less: $120!

$120 is generally the best price new (including shipping) for the rodina. it *looks* great (bad font on the "brand" name not withstanding). and i do like the watch. but i wouldn't want to get too carried away comparing it to stowa or nomos. definitely a much lower class movement and very close inspection of the dial shows the differences in quality as well. at a glance, though, you don't see those differences.

still, it's a pretty nice watch for $120.
the "g" is for Greg...

It has taken me quite a few years to be convinced about this shape and style of watch. I have been converted of late though and I am now searching for something of this nature. I fear that it will be a long, long while before I reach this standard though, a truly beautiful example.
