I also wanted to reference Dancematt's Rado post, by pointing out that the vintage Longines I'm wearing today also has a faceted crystal.
I don't think it makes it difficult to read the time, but it certainly makes it hard to take a proper pic of the dial.
And when you're trying to adjust the time and align the minute hand with the right marker, you have to angle the watch just right in order to get a good view.
Superb Longines Asqwerth, 3 angles on that? Adds to the beauty of a dress watch and matches the angles of the case without reducing legibility - great bit of design. 8 cuts or so on my old Diastar....not so much
I miss all the great things that may never be.
