Re: Non CW of the Day
No, unfortunately not. They had no stock. I looked at the black version (OK, but not something I would swap my VC for), and a whole host of other IWC's - mainly Portuguese - as they were holding an exhibition. I even had one of these on my wrist for a minute or two:blowfish89 wrote:^Did you have a chance to see the blue 3239 in person ?

I think the AD said it was £187,000. I told him it was nice, but I didn't like the way the 10 had been nibbled. He said I was not the first to mention it...REFERENCE 3776
The Portugieser Grande Complication has no fewer than 20 displays and functions. Apart from the time and chronograph functions, it includes a perpetual calendar with displays for the date, day, month, year, decade and century as well as a perpetual moon phase display. Rounding it all off is mechanical watchmaking’s supreme achievement: the minute repeater.

That IWC is pretty mad. How did it feel to hold a watch that cost the same as a house!?
Really don't like it compared to the things Patek and Lange etc design for the same price.

It's pretty crazy to me that anyone could consider spending that on a watch, and it was a proper lump - platinum is heavy and it is 45mm x about 18mm. The sound made by the minute repeater was pretty cool though.watchstudent wrote:That IWC is pretty mad. How did it feel to hold a watch that cost the same as a house!?

Is platinum more or less scratch resistant than steel ? I know gold scratches easy..downer wrote:It's pretty crazy to me that anyone could consider spending that on a watch, and it was a proper lump - platinum is heavy and it is 45mm x about 18mm. Dreaming of a rather expensive black dial steel sports watch with a rubber strap, that will remain a dream. Oh well, this will have to do at a small fraction of the cost. I like it so should really wear it more often:
