Re: Non CW of the Day
Trying to get more wear out of my Explorer. Back to trying a leather strap. Problem being is that the lug reach is a little too short meaning the strap can catch on the case now and again.
I prefer this look to the bracelet. If I can't sort it I may have to consider letting it go and swapping for a black faced GS (The fantastic quartz version again

Not sure if I understood your comment properly, but wouldn't a thinner strap (strap thickness, not strap width) be the answer?Sabbath wrote:Trying to get more wear out of my Explorer. I have tried a thickish hand made strap which caught so I tried this one. and to be honest you can't get much thinner. Perhaps one that has less tolerance where the spring bar goes might be a viable solution. Or I could try bending a spring bar like some of the new CWLs?

Curved spring bars definitely help - even better if you can find a curved end strap..Sabbath wrote:downer wrote:Not sure if I understood your comment properly, but wouldn't a thinner strap (strap thickness, not strap width) be the answer?Sabbath wrote:Trying to get more wear out of my Explorer. ^^^^ Richard,
Juat experimented with a dodgy bend of some spring bars and it has done the trick
Now to source an appropriate strap. A curved strap might be worth a try. Any suggestions? Th strap you above?

That strap is a Bremont- very good quality but crazily expensive, and poor VFM.
Not sure of the lug width on the Explorer, but this site has a couple, and they are a good supplier...

Sorted, bending the bars has made the difference required: even this handmade strap fits
Looks nice I think - this might just work.
Might look for a nice aligator or just leave it on this. For now...

IIRC curved end straps are available from Watch Obsession.Sabbath wrote:^^^^ Richard,
