Nico's 2nd watch - The show must go on -

Post by Nico »

Ladies and gentleman,

about one year ago, i have introduced my first watch project:

http://www.christopherwardforum.com/vie ... ?f=8&t=263

The watch has been completed, the result is great: A very classy W1.

At the moment it is time for starting another watch project: The W2 "AIRMAN" :D :D :D

Yesterday I have ordered the case (including a crown, not shown at the picture):

Image

- Material: stainless steel
- Diameter: 43 mm
- glass front: sapphire crystal
- glass back: mineral crystal
- water resistant: 30 m

I think I will go with this dial:

Image

- typical "airman-style"
- diameter: 35 mm
- colour dial: matt black
- colour numerals: white with luminova
- hands: chrome with green luminova

The case and dial are suitable to an Unitas 6497.

I think I am going for a strap like STEINHART uses with his "El Capitan". It fits great to an airman-watch.

Looking forward to your comments.

Regards

Nico, can't wait to see the finished project.
I really like the case, are the lug screws just for decoration?

I'll be watching with interest Nico :lupe: . I've just invested in some simple watch tools so I can do my own simple tasks (bracelet alterations, fit straps etc) but hope to progress.
Your ideas for your second watch look good to me; definitely my sort of watch :) . Good luck with it.

Man I love that movement. Hey you know you can get watch kits from Otto.. http://www.ofrei.com/index.html
Kits come with a 2824 or a 2892 and some manual winds as well.

Yes, I know this page.

But the Unitas 6497-1 is only standard quality. ($ 125,-)

I have bought the Unitas 6497-1 soigné, as you can see on the picture. It costs a little bit more, but it looks much better :D , even with a see-through case back.
