New watch day
New watch day
Then while at the shopping centre that houses the Bremont boutique I popped in for a chat while my family attended to other bits and bobs and all things Christmas related. The limited run is selling steadily apparently (of course they would say that) and the fact that once I handled it it just felt solid and looked great on the wrist I just thought what the heck, what's a few weeks, I'm here now! So, after a little negotiation and a few freebies, I took it home.
I went for the reddish brown strap as it just felt better than the bracelet on an all purpose tool watch. Yes I know it only has 38hours power reserve from a fairly well modified sellita movement but for me that's not an issue. It's comfortably enough reserve for me and the fact that In the future I can have it serviced or repaired at any decent watchmaker if it's out of warranty or perhaps Bremont no longer exist in their current form! At the end of the day it just hits practically all of my criteria for an everyday wear and I adore the aesthetic. Surely, they are amongst the best reasons for a watch purchase! I'm one happy boy this evening.
Thanks

Re: New watch day
Congratulations! Good to hear positive news about "new" Bremont and it certainly seems to pack some mighty lume based on your first pic (lume not so good on the original models).
It looks great!

Nice pickup Pat - really suits you. Hadn't quite appreciated the block lume on these. Looks great!
I post a few watch pictures now and then to a little Instagram account - 16 followers and counting!
Re: New watch day
Thanks @timepieces_and_bags , as you know it's been a very long few weeks. It was nice to get out & about absorbing myself in something other than recent events. Yes, I'm normally quite hard on myself but I think it looks good on me too. Saying that, i think it would look good on most people.
Thanks again

Re: New watch day
@Redpatnothing better than watches to take your mind off things.
Not to hijack your thread but it unexpectedly became a new watch day for me too just now, with delivery of the Pinion Reaxis Magenta, which I wasn’t expecting until at least tomorrow.
I took advantage of their 20% Black Friday offer. I opted for the grey leather strap and for a black tropic rubber to give it a sportier look. Will try that tomorrow.
Look forward to seeing it in natural light, it’s a lovely dial color but maybe ‘pinkier’ in this light than might be the case in daylight.
It’s a rule that photos from now have to have some gratuitous Christmas paraphernalia right?

Just to correct, I did include a piece of Christmas paraphernalia. If you look closely in the 3rd picture, you can see a knitted gingerbread man.

Re: New watch day
It’s good to read about new Bremont fans coming out of the woodwork since the rebrand and it does give me hope for Bremont.
I asked in Manchester about the direction Bremont was going and was told there will be the new range but they have decided to still offer their ‘heritage’ range with the old logo and trip tick cases. So something for everyone then.
I tried this watch on while at the Manchester show and was surprised by it. This limited edition also has a smaller logo than the standard version which I think looks better.
Enjoy your growing collection.

Very nice Michael, you finally made your mind up and went for it then I see. It looks great and I’m pleased you’re very happy with it.timepieces_and_bags wrote: ↑Thu Dec 05, 2024 11:15 pm @Redpatnothing better than watches to take your mind off things.

Re: New watch day
@iain I spent a while with the store employees and was told a very similar message to you. I guess we'll see what the future holds. I did notice that they are busier than they were before and a couple of the guys commented that business had picked up considerably, telling me that this weekend was very busy and that they had sold a lot of watches. I think there is probably a reason to feel optimistic, as you said, there seems to be something for everyone. I suppose I am a new Bremont fan, strangely I'm not that fussed by their previous products. The new ranges for me just hit the spot for a well made, simply designed, functional and in my opinion stylish watch. The price may be a little spicy but there are discounts to be had and the customer service side seems very good too.
Thanks

@Redpat and @timepieces_and_bags those are a fine pair of watches, sounds like you’re both really delighted with them which is great news! Congratulations to both of you.

Re: New watch day
Thanks @Murphy20 . Yes very happy. I had a sudden burst of perhaps I should have bought the power reserve model but then returned to my previous decision, that I definitely prefer this model.....although the blue power reserve is absolutely lovely in the flesh, the photos really don't do it justice. It's a little higher on the wrist and maybe a bit busy for an everyday, easy going watch.

Thanks for sharing, That is a lovely piece. I find myself going into the bremont shop in NY more than I should. While there i am lustdully gazing upon the supermaine bicolor. Thoughts on that watch? Also all the negative stuff about their rebrand keeps making me question my gut.
My object of lust is below .....

Re: New watch day
I'll tell you what @chif123, if I was buying another diver, then that bicolour would be right at the top of my list. Obviously it wouldn't make sense for me as I have the Supermarine 300 in green, just a fantastic watch that wears incredibly well. The bracelet is just excellent. Then the bicolour just takes it even higher. As you said, you've been in that boutique and keep returning so you know that they are a very nice, stylish, well built piece.
As I previously mentioned, the general consensus is that consumers are getting used to the rebrand, the sales figures from the boutique I frequent would suggest that, of course I only have their word but the footfall has increased dramatically and I've witnessed quite a few purchases personally while there.
From your posts and your collection you come across as a man who knows what he likes and if you do want one, go for it. One of these certainly wouldn't look out of place with all your other watches. It doesn't really matter what anyone else's opinion is as long as it makes you happy. Let me know if the temptation gets too much.
All the best
Pat

Re: New watch day
@chif123 I should start this with a disclaimer. I’m a big fan of the older Bremonts. I’ve had 8 and still have 1.
When Bremont announced they were introducing a cheaper range I was quite excited. I thought that a lower priced Bremont offering alongside their usual range was a good thing and I was looking forward to seeing what they did.
Then the new range dropped, but at the same time they introduced a new logo and Davide Cerrato said in interviews that the signature trip tick case design that I loved was no more. I think I said on here that I couldn’t see me buying another Bremont and was very disappointed with their new direction.
Then I actually looked at their new watches and tried them on. I didn’t hate them.
I am happy that Bremont have backtracked on DCs comments and are probably going to keep the old logo and case design as part of a heritage range. So the old Bremont is still there when I thought it had died.
I hope the damage to their reputation hasn’t been fatal but I actually quite like their new watches in isolation. However not enough to actually buy one myself. I think for the price they are asking there are watches I would rather spend my money on. However I hope there is a future for Bremont and anyone who likes these new ones enough to spend their money on one I think will get a watch that is very well made and looks good.
