New purchase

Post by Stuntkiteb »

Further to my earlier post asking for help in choosing which watch to go for, thanks for your help.

So I have made my purchase and it is sat on my wrist looking fantastic!

I went back to the Mondaine shop and tried on the stop2go, which had tempted me last week. It looked good, with the bright red strap, felt good and the quirkyness appealed to me.... but then I went next door and bought a Tag :D

A White faced Calibre 5 Automatic, really pleased with it.

It's a bit shall we say economic up against most watches on here, but I love the simplicity.

Very nice - don't be dismissive of it. If you like it, celebrate it. There is nothing wrong with owning a Tag... I too love the simplicity of the Tag Formula 1 series.

Always wanted a TAG, maybe to do with time-keeping of formula one in the 70's when I was a mere youth and never thought I would be able to afford one.

Can't describe how intense it felt to wear it out today.

Yes, nice indeed and I wouldn't call that a cheap watch - it's pretty clear it's a classy piece.

Tag seems to be selling at a lower price now, almost at Oris level for a few pieces

Nothing "cheap" about that TAG - a simple and straightforward bit of "class" with nothing ephemeral and all as it should be. Good choice Stuntkiteb.

Yes well done. Your tag looks good and it's great that you've got the watch you've longed for since your youth

Ha, I love this sentiment - because I know exactly what you mean. I rarely buy from an AD, but there's nothing quite like obsessing over a purchase, then finally walking through the door for the full AD treatment, and sporting a shiny new wonder thing on your wrist as you leave the shop. It's like a natural high!

That's a really nice TAG. I'm not a fan of the old quartz & plastic bevel F1 versions, but yours is very classic & handsome, perfect for all occasions, and will still look great many years from now. Congratulations, wear it in health.

Ah, you got the one I suggested! Great watch. It has such a crisp, clean look and, as you say, a great Formula 1 pedigree. Congratulations, an excellent choice.
