My solution is to order a new bracelet with screw-fastened links and ratchet-adjustable clasp:

I still love the watch, but didn't expect to have this many...issues with it before I even had a chance to try it on! Then again, once it's in its "fightin' trim" all will be forgiven.

Man, I'm going to crack and get me one of these Turtle's, even though I know it will be too big for me and I'll flip it in a month :?
Yes, I'm looking forward to trying it out in real life!

Don't let the large 45mm size scare you just yet. The lugs are rather short which makes the case look fine and well proportioned on my 18.5cm wrist. That, coupled with the nicely contoured case back, make it look and feel much smaller.

I shall report back on mine this weekend. I'm dreading adjusting the bracelet as it's the fiddly pin and collar stye.

If the watch works for me I might have to consider one of those Strapcode numbers.

Yep, I was thinking of upgrading from my SKX to a PADI Turtle but when I tried it on, just could not get on with the casing and I too identified the 4 'angles' as being the issue. Decided that the SKX was the better shape of case for me but I entirely understand the attraction of the Prospex.

A couple of nice examples here for sure.

Good for you! My bracelet should be in hand within the next few days and I will render my verdict once it's installed and fitted properly. Considering the original bracelet, I'm confident that it will be a positive one.

The bracelet has arrived from HK and it is rather nice:

Here is the underside of the clasp:

Everything is solidly built and well finished. I'm pleased so far, but will reserve final judgement until it's installed and sized on the SRPA. The watch is currently resting comfortably at my jeweler's shop awaiting its transplant, but I will stop by on the way home to oversee the operation.

Ah, that's the oyster with ratcheting clasp. A solid piece of kit.

Your link was for the half-moon bracelet, which is the one I might go for if the watch is a keeper. It's arrived but I haven't had time to open the box yet :D

Look forward to seeing pics of yours on the new SC

New Arrival

Post by Boydesian »

Okay. New bracelet has been installed and sized. I've only worn the watch for about an hour, but it is sweet. I can't get over the fact that this is a 45mm case. It looks well proportioned and feels incredibly comfortable on my not-that-big wrist (7.25 inches). I'm quite pleased with the bracelet too. Any Seiko I get in the future will have one on order before I do anything else with it.
