Re-reading this thread - in itself a sign of bait dangling on hook, fat old fish keeps coming back for another look - I thought what's this Group B thing? I was out of doing rallies myself then but still on the scene in a marshalling/spectator way.Bahnstormer_vRS wrote:I looked at the Prototipo range when they first came out but reckoned they didn't really suit me.
The 'Group B' is a different matter and I really rather like it, despite at 39mm case width being a smidgen smaller than my usual sized watches; maybe its the longer 50mm lug3lug length.
Designed in homage to Group B Rally cars the overall aesthetic of the Group B speaks to the “high-tech” design language of the early 1980s, with a high contrast dial inspired by the racing tachometer of the Lancia 037 Rally car.
It has a titanium and stainless steel case, miyota automatic movement and sapphire crystal. I rather like the hexagonal nut design of the crown.
Food for thought.

Forcing myself to advance slowly down the thread I then clocked the webbing strap with the large label, likely in homage to a full harness seat belt but puzzled to see the label inside the strap rather than "in yer face".
Then I looked at the dial.
And I looked at the dial.
And I looked at the dial.
I'm afraid the link to one dial in one car is just too tenuous for me to buy into. Jeez! Just about every car I ever owned had black instruments with "high contrast" numerals etc.
But when did tenuous design links ever deter the vendors of "motorsports-inspired" watches? Maybe it'll do well in Italy eh?
Personally I'm back to the Prototipo and the similar Valjoux-inspired period homages.
