My first Forum inspired non CW

Post by Andyshall »

I have felt that my watch collection needed a pilot watch for some time and when 'poppydoodlesdad' posted a picture of one my mind was made up. He very kindly PM'd a few details and I shamelessly copied (almost). So here are a few pics. Of my Kemmner Flieger A.

I have read lots of positives about Kemmner here and I have to say dealing with Roland was excellent and made so easy with prompt replies. He even agreed to build a slightly different version of the the one he had on eBay and changed the case to a beadblasted matt and put an ETA movement in. I am really really pleased, thanks again Poppydoodlesdad.

That looks very tasty.

Sounds like you've basically got a one off.

I like the look of that exhibition back too.

I had one identical to that, except I had the polished case with brushed sides.

Great watch, and kept good time.

Congrats on the purchase!

I've been eyeing this one up for a long time on ebay – it's a stunner and I prefer it to the 2011 FLE, which looks kind of similar. Congratulations

What ETA movement did he put in for you?

Looks like a 6498 to me, judging by the seconds at six arrangement. Nice looking piece. Might just have to have a gander at erkahund's shop on ebay.

Thanks for the kind comments.

It'sAliveJim - I thought it looked a bit like the 2011 FLE as well and was very tempted by one Downer had for sale recently.

jmarchitect - yes your right it is the 6498-1. Actually the one slight disappointment is that I thought it might be a hacking movement but isn't.

Great looking watch Andy. The bead blasted finish works really well with that watch.

Looks great, congrats  the exhibition back is lovely and like the 2011 fle, doesn't scrimp on 'display'. Enjoy your one off.
