MKII Kingston

Post by reggie747 »

Foooooooorkin Hell !!

I've been monitoring the 2nd hand prices of these pieces and their re-sale value is frikkin BANANAS

I appreciate they were a fairly limited run which if you signed up for one, you may have been lucky not to pass away whilst awaiting delivery apparently but the burning question is.....

Does Bill Yao have self winding golden balance wheel **** or something ??

The way these are going, in a short time, they're likely to surpass the Bremont as being the most expensive ETA based watch in creation, ever !!

Please enlighten me ?

I am not familiar with the prices for the Kingston but I can attest to the quality of Bill's offerings. In fact, I would go so far as to say I would prefer a MKii to any comparable Tudor.

Always admired the watches but knowing how elusive Bill is I would worry about after sales service etc.

I would just save up a bit more and buy a used Rolex instead. I hadn't heard about the after sales service but it doesn't sound good. Contrast against Halios - similar small company philosophy, limited runs, good quality parts though I guess not as good as MKII but excellent service.

ahem.....

here is mine. possibly the geekiest WIS watch out there. Serial Number 007/300!

the reason these are so pricey is there is nothing close to the Rolex 6538 out there of this quality. Yes, dealing with Mr Yao is a hugely frustrating business, but he is a good guy, and actually included a written apology with my Nassau after we had a slanging match on WUS!

I admit, that the price now is probably too high (you can get an SM300 for not much more), but the demand is there.

I remember these a few years back and the prices were a bit steep even then if they are hitting Tudor prices then its just plan daft. Never knew there was a reputation for bad customer service too, and people wonder why the average Joe Bloggs would much rather walk into a Goldsmiths and pick up a Tissot/Omega/Rolex than go to the time and hassle of checking out a micro brand.

What is the difference between an mkII sub and a timefactors sub? In terms of quality etc?

Hmm let's not get picky. Quality wise what is the difference to justify the cost of the mkII?
