Jury is still out for me on the end link and leather pairing, but I do love the BB58

Original end link and custom strap Neil or aftermarket link?

That's an original BB ETA Ryan, not the 58. Neil has both, I have the same ETA BB. Visually similar but the rose logo is one giveaway (shield on the 58) along with the smiley text (58 has straight lines).

Aftermarket link, that is held in place by the strap, without being attached to it.

This means you can fit any normal strap (providing it is isn’t too thick) without altering it. The strap in the pic was a JPM, but I have also tried it with a Hirsch Pure.

Patrick - thanks for the info. I didn't realise Neil had the same watch in both sizes, so made an assumption ... and we all know what they say

Neil - that's a neat solution, but I take it that it works best or only with non-padded straps?
Out of curiosity, if the strap material was thin around the springbar area, does the end link have an amount of play?

Yep only works with non padded, the key is that the end of the strap must have a uniform thickness. Only tried it with the JPM and Hirsch Pure, which are as thin as I would want on the BBN.

I imagine if the strap was very very thin the end link may move a bit.

I think there are now a range of these links for different brands and models, even some designed to use with a Nato.
