Very nice, congratulations. Certainly very interesting to have a mechanical alarm as part of the collection.
mbhoward wrote:Vintage is an option and certainly probably go that way for an Oris since none of their current line up have an alarm.
Oris do still have mechanical alarms in the range, but with a retail price of £4k :shock: , I think you made the correct choice with the Seiko!

Thanks - although I think I will keep my eyes on eBay for an Oris or a Tudor - as you can never have enough watches obviously!

I lead to believe by minds wiser than mine that there is a formula for calculating the the right number of watches to own.

R=C+1

R is the right number of watches to own
C is the current number of watches owned

You can't argue with mathematics! ;)

Oris alarm?:

Perhaps overpriced, I know it's dealer but I don't think these guys service before selling (not sure on that at all though)

Taken from the Parkers Website:
Parkers Jewellers wrote:Our advertised watches are pre-owned and many are classic models that are no longer available. We take great care when we buy watches to ensure that they come from reliable sources.

Once we get the item back to our premises, our expert watchmakers check the watch over and give it the Parkers MOT. In case you need any assurance, our team has over 60 years experience between them and it is why we give all our watches our free Parkers 12 months warranty.
So sounds like a 'check over' rather than a full service.

Yes I thought so, their prices used to reflect this very well (condition is usually not top rate also) but now prices have crept up so that there are no real benefits buying from them.
