Maurice Lacroix Sale at John Lewis

Post by ianblyth »

Some interesting models including a quartz (Was £970 Now £485) and automatic moonphase (Was £2650 Now £1,325).

Their classique watch looks like a C5 (also 38mm) but with the sale only twice as expensive.

Bought a classic chrono but am not quite happy with it (cosmetic marks) so am returning it but have another one on the way. Free returns and the slate blue dial is quite lovely.
Will let you know how this one turns out.

That's the one I would have gone for. I don't really have much love for MLC's but they are fine watches and at that price some make good buys.

They live in that mundainity void like Raymond Weil for example. Nothing striking, not for watch collectors but decent enough watches all the same. I must admit I love the special kind of deep blue they use on the Pontos models however I find the dual time model on sale for £2000 to be their most original, possibly iconic design.

I'll take some better photos when the blue chrono arrives tomorrow. I will then have to decide if I want to keep it or not. I have been spending quite a bit of time looking at dress watches with chrono or other complication and the blue ML does stand out a bit for me. It's a very restrained dull blue finish that doesn't shout at you. The chrono dial is nicely finished with dropped subdials and a concentric groove to add interest.
My wife opened the package thinking it was for my sons birthday to find a very helpful invoice for a significantly larger sum than I have ever spent on a watch.
At the minute I think my wife would buy this for me as a 50th birthday present. The trouble is I am not 46 yet. :problem:

wow they all sold out really quick since Ian posted this thread but then watch sales in general on the high street have been really poor this year.

This new release caught my eye but i wouldnt buy it without the discount castle got:

A quick update. The first chrono is on the way back to The Watch Gallery (another John Lewis outlet). There were a couple of minor marks on the case and bracelet, but also a scratch on one of the hour batons. :(

The replacement watch order has been cancelled, as, despite accepting my order and taking my money, apparently they had all sold out. They only told me this after the expected delivery time.

I'm a bit annoyed and disappointed, but TBH the cancellation is probably no bad thing as this would have been way more than I have ever spent on a watch and Maurice Lacroix do not have good sell on potential if I did get tired of it or saw something even more tempting.

So I continue my search for a dressier watch. I was tempted by that nearly new C9 chrono but it sold before I had decided one way or another. At the minute the front funner is probably the Junkers Bauhaus 6060-5 with power reserve. The good thing is it is £500 less than the Maurice Lacroix was. :D

That was the one I was trying to buy. It shows as being in stock but you can't actually add it to your basket when you click on "buy it now". UK orderline closed until Monday and USA operator on orderline couldn't help with UK sales.

Tis the season to off load your Maurice Lacroix's at half price apparently:

http://www.thewatchgallery.co.uk/shop/s ... cturer=296

The watch galleries sale is quite good this year (against the other sales that is)

I think all three companies are owned by the same parent company, and although some show availability for the particular blue chrono I was interested in, they don't actually have stock. I would certainly consider Maurice Lacroix at those prices- I think I was just a bit unlucky.
