Maen watches: Hudson automatic

Post by gaf1958 »

^^^ A number of people have made negative comments on the Hudson’s hands (which I rather like). Unfortunately I couldn’t warm to the hands on the Nodus Trieste, which in most other ways was one I quite liked.

There is a lot of negativity about microbrands, full stop. And rightly so, for many. But this model and those from others (eg. Marloe, Ventus, Baltic, Regnum etc) are, in my opinion, worthy of at least consideration. They've all got to start somewhere.

Any other Maen backers on here?

As I’ve got more educated about watches over the last few years my interest has actually started swaying more towards smaller companies/micro brands over recent times. Maybe its because I own a small business myself which, knowing how difficult it is to grow at the side of the ‘big boys’, makes me want to support them

Yep dillydolly another backer here. I was in from the start, backer 17.

I have exactly the same opinion as you, has to be worth a pun for me. If i am honest though i have backed about 10 watches on kickstarter and very few have met expectation.

I have a good feeling about this one

As already mentioned I'm currently backing the Maen.
However, I'm waiting until towards the end of the backing period to make a final decision.
That's the nice thing about KS projects, if you have second thoughts you can always pull out as long as it's still within the funding period, i.e. in this case the end of May.

I've also backed a few other KS projects...most notably:

Yeah. Not sure this warrants being a special/limited edition though. And to be a limited number it has to have just that, a limited number. Bit puzzled to be honest.

I don't see anything special or limited about it at all...infact I find it a bit meh!
Why can't they just stick to there guns, offer there variants, let people either back what's there or not
...rather than being influenced by others!

I think the LE will be available only to Kickstart backers, while the other variants will continue to be available afterwards. So a time limited edition, rather than a limited number edition.

At this rate this could be several hundred LEs. And all it is is a slight change. I agree with Strapmeister's comments.
