Interesting release from MAD / MB&F.
I still like my MAD1 Time to love more, but overall, at CHF 2900 (+VAT) this is a good value proposition for a Swiss made jumping jour with such an innovative design.

Re: M.A.D.2 just announced
I'm still waiting to pick up my M.A.D.1S so need to reserve judgement a little bit (and am probably biased), but I think I prefer the 1 over the 2.
I'm not keen on this color, although I'm sure that will change in future editions, but I think it looks a bit bug-eyed and the joy of the rotor is much less visible. On the plus side, it is a lot more functional for actually telling the time.

@timepieces_and_bags I'm with you on this one, I also like my MAD1 Time to Love more.
It's kind of my super flashy watch, but it does not disappoint in that role. The way the colors combine when the rotor spins is the main reason I got it, it's just so amazing to watch (and feel) the rotor spin. And with the minute marker on the MAD1 it's actually quite easy to tell time to the minute, I know they removed it from 1s to make it slimmer but I prefer having it.
On the other hand, I'm sure they will get more colors in future editions. This is just the beginning. And it's nice to see some more competition for unusual watches in this price range.

Ooh that looks interesting: I've not yet owned a jumping hour watch.
The colours - what are they reminiscent of? Golf? Cricket? Lawn tennis?
Thanks for the heads up.

Oh, err, no, not for me.
I think the problem is that to me it looks like an AliExpress Chinese novelty watch

I do think this is not as original as the first edition, and maybe the green color doesn't help much. And to your point, there are many watches with 2 sub dials that look kind of similar.Timepiece.Pete wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 7:23 pm Oh, err, no, not for me.

But I can say from experience that the spinning rotor is really fun and an interesting addi(c)tion. Can't comment for MAD2, of course, but I use my MAD1 often as a stress relief tool, sometimes just wearing it around the house just to flick my wrist and spin the rotor.
So overall, considering the price point, company behind it and level of innovation, I still think this would be good value. Of course, not everybody has to like it, as it is clearly a niche model.

I’ve been waiting for you. I prefer the look of the MAD 1 S - too, not that I’m likely to actually see one soon, having been a 2-time loser.timepieces_and_bags wrote: ↑Thu Mar 13, 2025 2:57 pm I'm still waiting to pick up my M.A.D.1S so need to reserve judgement a little bit (and am probably biased), but I think I prefer the 1 over the 2.
