The BB does very little for me. The Seikos are ok, but if I were to go Seiko it would be the Marinemaster 300. Which is a tad to tall.[s]It'sAliveJim wrote: However, you could also consider the Tudor Black Bay red or blue? Or a Seiko Samurai or Turtle in Blue Lagoon, or a Seiko Sumo in blue?

Although at 44mm perhaps larger than your preference.

It is a fun watch, isn't it! I worry about usability though. How would I feel to use it when not on holiday or the beach, which is most of the time obviously.missF wrote:....all these splashes of bright colour aside - the oris sixty-five is absolutely gorgeous.....

For me it is the Sixtyfive...srs1286 wrote:Of your choices my vote is definitely the Oris. The from factor of the 65 has always appealed to me however I am a bit more boring and would go for this version...Wis wrote:42mm is maximum for me.srs1286 wrote:Any size restrictions? ^^ i'd say the sixty five is a much more widely useable watch than the divers with the splash of very bright colour - wearable in many more circumstances and more adaptable. almost less 'fun' - just more gorgeous!
watching you fail in your quest for a “one watch” has been great entertainment

i actually agree that i like the blue sunburst more. although the pastel is growing on me a bit as i continue to see it more.Wis wrote:I do like the Seaforth, but prefer the sunburst blue over the pastel. Looking for a fun holiday/summer watch
I haven't come up with any alternatives, but I have some comments regarding your three suggestions.
The Oris Sixty-five. I own two of these, the original black dialled 40mm and a green dialled 42mm version. I love the 40mm version, it's honestly one of my favourite watches, it's very, very wearable and surprisingly versatile. The green 42 is something of a chameleon in that it sometimes appears black, sometimes green, but it's equally as comfortable as the 40mm and I like it a lot.
The Doxa. I like a lot about the Doxa; the dial colour, the case shape, the BOR bracelet. One thing I don't like, is the size of the dial compared to the case & bezel. The case has a lot of "meat" around the bezel, and the "double" bezel is quite wide. The dial is very small compared to the rest of the watch. The Doxa quite rightly has a lot of fans, but it's enough for me to take it off my wish list.
The Squale. Never owned one and to be truthful, it doesn't really appeal to me. The dial logo and text spoil it for me and, colour aside, it doesn't stand out as anything sufficiently different from the masses.
So for me, the blue Oris would be my choice. But then, I don't own a Reverso, so my taste is clearly different enough from yours for that recommendation to be of little relevance.

Re: Looking for a fun holiday/summer watch
Personally i think you already have one of the best in the SMPc of which you can spice up with an assortment of straps such as rubber or nato,s in a multitude of colours to match the mood. More money towards another serious watch.

It's meant to be a fun / summer / holiday watch, so why not bend the rules by a couple of millimetres. Also, with the crown partly recessed and at 4 o’clock, it will 'wear small'.
Just a thought.
Mind you, I do rather like the blue Oris.

When the Oris 65 was launched I thought that would make a good beach holiday watch. I still do and the one you have picked out is ideal.

Perhaps the "fun" element could come from the strap? - allowing the watch to be a "serious" watch if required...

Greetings,
That Oris 65 looks good but on this strap it's really looking like a summer watch!
Excellent!

Re: Looking for a fun holiday/summer watch
It perfectly evokes a carefree 1960s summer on the French Riviera, and who wouldn't want that? So the summer credentials are not in question. Versatile? With casual clothes after work, more so than the other two, I agree. Good point!missF wrote:^^ i'd say the sixty five is a much more widely useable watch than the divers with the splash of very bright colour - wearable in many more circumstances and more adaptable. almost less 'fun' - just more gorgeous!

Not at all, your comments are much appreciated and are in line with my own thinking. Perhaps you are a Reverso guy!gaf1958 wrote:I haven't come up with any alternatives, but I have some comments regarding your three suggestions.
