A wonderful read. Thanks for sharing your story. 8)

Not sure if you have received your moneys worth yet, but I think after all that you have shared with this watch it deserves a service. Even if it is more than the cost of the watch.

Great review, one on ebay now

have had this in my watch list for a while. Possible dead ringer for yours, but original RAF case? You would know more about this than I.
Time and money? I’ve spent most of mine on booze and women. The rest I just wasted…

Wow! That is a find. It isn't original though. The case is, being the crappy plated one, and not in bad nick for its age; BUT - it has got the later dial like mine from the '56 re-case. So, strictly speaking, it's a franken. Love the second hand - much more stylish than mine, but that might come from the original.

Had this one serviced and polished and sold it on ebay for £1200. Pauls photos etc made it a vintage grail for me. Id like an Omega ib Dennison now but thatll probably never happen.

That's brilliant! Love the Bonklip as well.
I am thinking of selling mine now. Basically, I never wear it, and need the money. I'm seeing if I can get an offer out of a couple of ebay sellers of similar watches.

Well, it's time I updated this.
Eventually (that seems to apply to most of my watch sales!) I sent this to auction. I had received a few offers, so knew that it was fairly rare, and compared with others in the market was in fair original condition. Many of these re cased watches have been mucked about with, discoloured faces, wrong hands etc. So, in late 2021 I sent to auction with Lyon and Turnbull. Very pleased with the result.

Quite the result, Paul!
The maths for investing 12 pounds and 10 shillings in November 1967 with compound interest is way too much work but I doubt it gets to that.
To say nothing of wearing a JLC at will all this time...

A brilliant story and a wonderful watch, Paul. Remiss of me not to have commented on it first time around, though June was always a busy month…
