Yep. I put in a cheeky offer and it was accepted. Have been looking at one for a while, last I saw go was one on ebay for £1050 but thankfully I got it for a better price.

The polish....a bone of contention, I don't mind it at the moment it'll gain a load of hairlines and will eventually be brushed lol.

As to the RN diver, I absolutely love mine. It is one of my top five watches (between it and the Amphibia it is a big reason why I have sold the majority of my luxury watches) and to me is the only quartz alternative to the old Rolex sub, it has that everyday beatable, go with anything feel for me. I would reccomend the Matt one from Silvermans before they are all completely gone and only combo finished ones are left.

The lume on the RN is excellent as is the crystal but I really love the case. The 80's Monnin style has a lot of history (with great comfort and a nice weight) and it's great that CWC's designs have remain unchanged to this day.
Good work on the 1970s

I've just been checking out the RN Matte on Silvermans and while my finger is hovering over the trigger, I can't do it. £420 for a quartz with mineral crystal :?

Therein lies the CWC rub for practically everyone IAJ.

You can order the normal version with sapphire but the Matt is now discontinued. I wouldn't bother with sapphire though, the mineral is so excellent at its job whereas the sapphire will reflect too much.
I miss all the great things that may never be.

It'sAliveJim wrote:Ah, so it was you who picked that up. I was seriously tempted but the high polish put me off. Ridiculous, I know, because it's the polish finish that gives it the stand-out from other lesser 'military' models. It's a beauty though

I so want an RN Diver but the prices always put me off, and even used they're a bit toppy, but then that's the mark of a desirable watch I suppose. I tried a Zeno RN-a-like and it didn't really do it for me so I will get round trying to the CWC on eday.

I always liked the G10 as well but couldn't get past the 50m WR. Seems a bit parsimonious for a £200 watch. I bought what I consider to be a better watch instead

Removable springbars, 20mm lug width and 100m WR
C9 Marine Chronometer Small Seconds, C8 Mk2 Aviator, C600 Trident Pro; Lum-Tec Combat B19, Elliot Brown Canford, Smiths Everest, Casio Protrek.

I really do need to pick up a CWC. My initials are on the dial. A 1970 would be ideal: A birth year watch with my intials on it. However, I don't think I want to pay what a 1970 CWC would command.

Well, CWC rub be damned – I've just ordered a matte version.

Let's see what all the fuss is about :)

Congrats. I fear I may have bigged it up too much. Don't expect anything other than a bog standard something that tells the time with clarity.

The CWC Royal Navy diver is a very cool looking watch.
Okay so maybe a bit pricey for a mineral glass quartz but they are tough as nails and with the right Perlon (not a Nato!) they can even look a bit classy.
