Kickstarters

Post by JAFO »

I just got some info through about the Sea Shade KS, and they sent a couple of other infos

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/86 ... _similar_2

A Hetis 42mm Chronograph, whish I think uses the same movement as the Watermelon watch, at $339

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ma ... _similar_3

A Mancheroni GMT (I Think!) at AUS$770, with an option of a 1 watch raffle for $14.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/oc ... _similar_4

And a heavily subscribed $35 (65% off) for a fascinating highly lumed brass compass.

Yema also have a Kickstarter on the go right now - really like the look of these:

I remember somebody else showing these. They were commenting about the cut outs on the bezel, but I then saw the VC Overseas is similar for a lot more dough.

Those compasses are nearly sold out. There's only a handful left now, out of thousands.

I keep coming back to that Yema. It's a great 3 hand sports watch, with a very cool vintage vibe. It would be nice if it came with a bracelet, but the lugs would lend themselves to a straight end-link bracelet, making fitting something that looks 'correct' quite easy.

I was just browsing around Kickstater, as you do, and came across this
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/au ... term=watch which kinda of took my fancy (either Blue or Black).
Seems pretty well spec'ed at a reasonable price.
I wasn't sure about the name Strider, or indeed Stroller on the dial albeit reading the comments that's no longer going to be on the dial now.

I still haven't received my sea shade, as in post 1.
updates have been posted on FB rather KS by the manufacturer, which isn't cool as many of the backers don't use FB
Anyway, it looks like there is now some movement, and hopefully the watches will be ready to ship imminently.

Assuming I do get it, maybe it will re-assure me about KS for the future! :D
Pictures if and when!

I backed the Selten project (https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/se ... -meteorite) which was due Nov. 2021 but things got delayed, mainly due to offering too many versions of the watch.
We were kept informed of the circumstances by the manufacturer through the Kickstarter platform.
Anyway, it arrived the other week

Thanks for that. I just had an email from my vendor saying much the same thing, that he now has all the watches, and will be shipping. Hopefully pictures shortly. Despite the doubts over the last 7 or 8 months, this will no doubt encourage me to try again. (after this one gets here!) :D

Have I invested in kickstarter watches previously? Yes. Do I own any now? Yes. Do I own all that I've invested in? No. Will I invest in Kickstarter watches again? Yes, probably.

That ST19 movement in the Hetis is a column wheel design which is supposed to be the bees knees when it comes to chrono movements.

The Auric Stroller/Strider I'd looked at and ultimately filed it under " probably looks better in the renders than it will on my wrist".

It's probably true that some KS campaigns deliver on time rather than late by months but I wouldn't rely on it happening.

What do I still own?

Fanos Osimiri - wish I'd bought blue rather than black and might yet buy the blue. It's a good watch.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/fa ... s-eta-bgw9

Kraken H2 meteorite dial and GMT bezel - it's my beater.

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/ro ... -the-retai

Look at that - both are titanium watches.

Which do I regret parting with?

Maen Skymaster 38 Midnight Blue: it was just too small on the wrist for me, just. I was sad about that.

The other 13 kickstarter watches I don't miss at all.
C60 MKI, MKII, MKIII: "some",
C6 & C60 Kingfishers,
C600 Tritechs,
C63 "some",
C65 "some",
C4, C40, C8, C9, C3, C5, C20 & 23FLE
